I am friends with a fellow by the name of Earl Tulley. In fact more like brothers from different mothers. He is of course Dine' and i am a Mnicounjou Lakota from Iron Lightning SD on the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe's reservation. I am a Grassdancer by trade throughout my life but i am also a traditionalist from the Dakotas. In my youth i traveled the same path that you are all following now. I never made the amount of progress as all of you younger humans do but I was acquainted with some of the great leaders of the 70's and early 80's. I did accompany the International Indian Treaty Council in 1977 to the United Nations Conference on the Indigenous Peoples of the Western Hemisphere. I attended as a youth observer but did on one afternoon briefly address the general assembly on the subject of inadequate education in the US for native youth. I have enjoyed your articles even tho i have been only introduced to Censored News the other day after the Copenhagen meeting. It is exciting to get to see moment by moment the international movements actively seeking recourse for the large earth and human related issues. I'm always gonna do what i did all my life, which is grassdance across Indian country but at my age i am actively seeking my place in the scheme of the world struggle so that i may also add to my generations contribution to the future. Television news, especially CNN, can be singled out for the rise of institutionalized racism and nationalism. CNN champions the rights of white victims in mind-numbing repeated broadcasts. When was the last time CNN sought justice for a black, American Indian or Asian missing or murdered child or desperate parent? CNN's chosen victims are more often than not, fair-haired blondes. The people that CNN and other television news focus on to shame and vilify are more often than not people of color.Click image for article.
