This morning protesters blockaded the Raytheon facility within the University of Arizona Tech Park in Tucson, Arizona.

At the UA Tech Park, Raytheon, which supplies the Israeli military, works in close collaboration with the University of Arizona to design weapons of war.

About 60 people held a rally in front of the Tech Park -- demanding an end to collaboration with Raytheon and Israel -- while those who physically blockaded the entrance are being loaded into police vehicles inside the complex.

Vehicle access to the UA Tech Park was blocked for at least an hour, with protesters blocking the main entrances to Raytheon and workers zooming in and out of the crowds attempting to get in.

A blockade also occurred at the west entrance to the campus; police have arrested all the blockaders there.

After clearing protesters from blocking UA Tech Park/Raytheon's entrance, Pima County Sheriffs also insisted on arresting KJZZ journalist Alisa Reznick despite Reznick clearly carrying media equipment and repeatedly identifying herself as press. In solidarity with Palestine, there was a protest and blockade of Raytheon Missiles and the University of Arizona in Tucson on Thursday, resulting in 26 arrests, including a news reporter. US Border Patrol were 'laughing, overjoyed' when they murdered Raymond Mattia, Tohono O'odham

The Arizona Republic reports today from the Justice for Raymond Mattia press conference in Tucson.

The Tohono O’odham Nation Police Department officer present for the shooting had harassed Mattia "countless” times before the incident, according to Ophelia Rivas, a longtime friend of Mattia who lived nearby.

After the shooting, Rivas saw 13 to 14 agents picking up bullet casings near where Mattia was shot. Rivas stayed with the Mattia family near where he was killed.

The agents were laughing and carrying on like they had just done a “great deed,” Rivas said. The agents were discussing what angle they should have shot at or did shoot at, Rivas added.

“It was very disturbing to hear that," Rivas said. “They didn't hide the fact that they were really excited and overjoyed to have killed somebody.”

The U.S. Justice Department announced that the owners of the Grand Gateway Hotel in Rapid City, South Dakota, have entered into a consent decree in a racial discrimination lawsuit filed by the U.S. Justice Department against the hotel, following discrimination against Native Americans.

Connie Uhre will be barred from serving as an officer or director of the company or from exercising any management duties or being involved in any operations on behalf of the Grand Gateway Hotel for four years.

The hotel defendants will also issue a public apology and send it to tribal organizations in South Dakota and throughout the Great Plains region.

“As alleged in the complaint, the defendants both prevented Native Americans from booking rooms at the hotel and made public statements discouraging Native Americans from setting foot on the business’s property,” said Attorney General Merrick B. Garland.

“This kind of hateful conduct invokes a long and painful history of negative stereotypes against and exclusion of the Native American community," said Kristen Clarke, asst. attorney general of the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division. "We applaud the Tribal elders, local officials, and advocates who took a stand against this shameful conduct."

Although the business settled one federal suit, it still faces two more lawsuits.

The two other ongoing lawsuits come from the indigenous advocacy network NDN Collective and a Wisconsin family, who both allege the hotel denied Native people service illegally. Both of those suits are pending.

A family from Wisconsin claims they attempted to stay at the Grand Gateway in August of 2023.

Court documents say that Jennifer White, who is quote “not of a member of a racially protected class”, entered the lobby alone, and the clerk began the check-in process for the three rooms she’d reserved. But when her husband, Ryan, came into the hotel, the clerk stopped the check-in and told them there were no rooms available.

Ryan White is Native American.

They allege that when they questioned the decision, the clerk called security.

Court papers say the Whites felt threatened and went to a different hotel.

Israeli tanks have surrounded Gaza’s Al-Shifa Hospital and the hospital’s director, Muhammad Abu Salmiya, said any person moving within the hospital compound is being attacked by Israeli snipers. Inside Al-Shifa Hospital, electricity has run out, with at least two premature babies having died and 37 at severe risk, reports Al Jazeera.

• The WHO says it has lost communication with its contacts inside al-Shifa, the largest hospital in Gaza.
• Several hospitals in Gaza City and northern Gaza have been “directly hit” as Israel intensifies attacks around hospitals, the UN says. There are fears for hundreds of patients, including 37 premature babies in al-Shifa Hospital, as electricity fails in multiple hospitals.

• At least 11,078 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks on Gaza since October 7. These figures may not be the latest as several hospitals lost contact on Saturday, delaying updates from the Gaza Ministry of Health, according to the UN.
• In Israel, after a downward revision, the death toll now stands at more than 1,200.

The Tribal Council is especially concerned about the needless killing of innocent civilians. Too many elders, women, and children have died already. It is equally tragic to see thousands of people leaving their homes, while entire communities face an uncertain future. We have endured mass violence, displacement, and attempted genocide. The trauma caused by these devastating events continues to reverberate through our community. For these reasons, we are calling for a swift and equitable end to the conflict.
As people, we need to find a way to live in harmony with one another and the planet. Future generations are depending on us to restore balance and create a more prosperous and just world. Please help us amplify this message of peace and call for a cease-fire.
