My name is Ed Kabotie. I am from the Hopi village of Shungopavi and the Tewa village of Khap'o Owinge (Santa Clara Pueblo, NM). My culture is the greatest inspiration of my music. By mixing genres, languages, and instrumentation, I seek to express the virtues, values, and vices of my people. Outside of my culture, the musical groups that I find most inspiring are the Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Marley & the Wailers, & Metallica. \m/ I grew up playing drums in rock & metal bands, but studied the guitar as a songwriting instrument. I currently play trap set drums for Summit Dub Squad (a Reggae/Hip-hop band based in Flagstaff, AZ), vocals & guitar for Twin Rivers, (a Nu-Native band based out of Santa Fe, NM), and vocals & guitar for Los Coyotes (a Rock/Reggae trio based in Flagstaff). My "One Man Jam" project is featured on this page. The project incorporates looping various instruments to create a full band sound. Via 'loopstation', I can layer drums, guitar, bass, flute, harmonica, vocals, etc. in one performance! Check out the videos for a better understanding of how it works. Blessings!

Shame that an NPR station decided "now is not the time for this protest song." MLK was told "now is not the time" for his march on Birmingham, "Now is not the time"is a form of systematic oppression. Now is the time to end turning blind white eyes to the injustice we all can see. Song has been sung all over this town for years, put it on the radio.
