Dear Mr. President,

The Pueblo of Zuni thanks the Biden and Harris Administration and the Office of Management and Budget (0MB) for the opportunity to provide productive, and hopefully long-lasting, input on material changes that are necessary to meaningfully and effectively advance equity and support by the government for underserved communities. We particularly seek to provide comments that address how opportunities in select governmental policies, regulations, and guidance can affirmatively and equitably be applied and programmatically operationalized to both address and provide solutions to some of the most intensive underlying causes of systemic inequities in American society for the A:shiwi, the Zuni people.

MERIDA, Spain -- With the shouts of "La Lucha Sigue!" -- The Struggle Continues -- and the sounds of marching drums, the Zapatistas delegation was welcomed in Merida, Spain on Wednesday evening. From the train station, then marching in a grand parade through the streets, supporters carried banners and gave an extraordinary welcome to the Zapatistas who arrived in Vigo, Spain, after crossing the Atlantic on the sailing ship, "The Mountain."

A First Nation in B.C.'s South Interior says 182 unmarked grave sites have been discovered near the location of a former residential school.

The community of ʔaq'am, one of four bands in the Ktunaxa Nation and located near the city of Cranbrook, B.C., used ground-penetrating radar to search a site close to the former St. Eugene's Mission School, the Lower Kootenay Band announced Wednesday.

Ofelia Rivas, the founder of O'odham Voice Against the Wall, shares the struggle for rights and survival on the so-called border. "We do have people on both sides of the border," Ofelia said, describing the dire situation for O'odham who live on the south side of the border. She said all the plants and animals are being affected by the waiver of federal environmental protection laws. Ofelia said the location of graves of the First Nation children at residential schools has impacted everyone. She also spoke of the Yoeme (Yaqui) who were assassinated in Sonora, Mexico, in May and June, who spoke out for water rights, and served the Vicam Traditional Elders.

President Theodore Roosevelt said this concerning The Dawes Act of 1887, which was also known as the Indian Allotment Act, “(allotment) was a mighty pulverizing engine to break up the tribal mass."  The Dawes Act gave a 160-acre allotment of land to each Indian head of the household and what remained of the reservations was sold to white settlers. By 1934, when the allotment policy ended, 60 percent of the Indian land base had been transferred to whites as “surplus."  This included 27,000,000 acres in individual allotment sales.

The sentiments of Teddy Roosevelt rise up like a beast from the sea of land hunger throughout  American history.

PARK RAPIDS, Minnesota -- Hubbard County Sheriff’s Department escalated state repression when it served a notice to Namewag camp, located on private property, stating that the sole entrance to the property will be barricaded with no one allowed in or out, Giniw Collective said on Monday.

“This is a blatantly unlawful attempt to target and repress Indigenous-led efforts to defend our land and water. The state of Minnesota appears to not understand treaty law, it also seems Minnesota doesn’t understand U.S. property law either,” said Tara Houska, Giniw Collective, after the notice was served at 6 am on Monday.

Across Canada, Native children were stolen from their families by the churches and government Indian Agents. Parents who hid their children were sentenced to jail. Native children died of starvation, disease, abuse, torture, medical experiments, and murder by church staff in these residential schools. Now, there is documentation of unmarked graves and mass graves that document the genocide. There are new demands for trials of those responsible like the Nuremberg trials.

Residential school survivors and their families in Canada are now identifying those responsible for the abuse, torture and murder of Native children in residential schools, in order to hold them responsible for genocide.

Mohawk Nation News said, "Each unmarked grave is a separate crime scene and criminal investigation. We know who did the crime. We want to know the specifics of the individuals involved, just like the Nuremberg trials."

Among the files now being examined are those of Shingwauk Residential School, an Anglican Church-run school in Sault Ste. Marie, in Ontario near the border of Canada and the United States. There are 110 children and staff buried in the cemetery. The students who died here, whose names are known, are shown below in memory.

LIVE: Cowessess First Nation held a virtual press conference to announce the “horrific and shocking discovery of hundreds of unmarked graves at the site of the former Marieval Indian Residential School.”

Chief Cadmus Delorme of the Cowessess First Nation said 751 unmarked graves were found at Marieval Residential School. 

"Removing gravestones is a crime in this country and we are treating this as a crime," Chief Delorme said during the live press conference.

Chief Delorme was joined by Florence Sparvier, 80, a survivor of the school.

The Zapatistas delegation disembarked from their ship on Tuesday to the sound of bagpipes and a festival, El Pais reports.

Manuel Raxo, the representative of Payasos Rebeldes, one of the collectives of the Galician assembly, said the defense of land and life is what unites them with the Zapatista army. "It is an opportunity to unite and wake up, as they claim, for the territory and all the struggles that unite us."

Sadly, our friend Yaqui Water Protector Tomas Rojo was identified today as the one found in a shallow grave near Vicam Pueblo, Sonora. Tomas was identified by DNA and fingerprints.

Tomas is the third Yaqui Water Protector to be assassinated since May. Agustin Valdez was assassinated in May. Luis Urbano was murdered by gunshots on the street in Obregon in June.

Vicam Pueblo hosted Water Rights Forums that were covered by Censored News.

For years, Yaqui maintained highway blockades on a major highway through their land, which stalled semis, in protest of the theft of Yaqui River water for an aqueduct for the City of Hermosillo.

Tomas was a spokesman during the Water Forums and blockade.

Agustin served as head of security during the water rights highway blockades.

Luis, who is featured in a new film defending Yaqui water rights, accompanied the Traditional Authority of Vicam.

The Traditional Authority of Vicam hosted international gatherings of the Zapatistas, upholding Indigenous rights.

Vicam Pueblo is located on Yoeme (Yaqui) ancestral land in the state of Sonora, near the Pacific Coast of Mexico, about a six hour drive southwest of Tucson.

AP: Mexican police identify corpse of Indigenous activist

MEXICO CITY (AP) — Prosecutors in the northern Mexico border state of Sonora said Monday tests have confirmed that a badly decayed corpse is that of an Indigenous rights leader who disappeared almost four weeks ago.

The office said DNA tests and fingerprints were used to identify Tomás Rojo Valencia, a leader of the Yaqui indigenous community. His body was found last week near the Yaqui town of Vicam, Sonora.

Rojo Valencia disappeared May 27 following tensions over Yaqui roadblocks protesting gas ducts, water pipelines and railway lines that have been run across their territory without consulting them or giving them much benefit. Rojo Valencia served as the Yaquis’ spokesman during past conflicts over land and water rights.

The confirmation came on the same day a 25-year-old Yaqui woman was reported missing after she left her home in Vicam to go to work, but never arrived. She was last seen June 17.

President Andrés Manuel López Obrador has made it his special project to bring justice to the Yaquis, who he has described as Mexico’s most persecuted Indigenous group.

In February, the conflict over the highway blockades came to a head with the death of an Indigenous man killed when a trucker plowed through a Yaqui roadblock, hitting a member of the group.

Percy Casper, Shuswap Nation, was incarcerated before he was five years old. Percy describes the holocaust and genocide of 10 years in Kamloops Residential School, where 215 Native children were found buried in a mass grave. Percy said it was a labor camp and children were abused at night. The children who never made it home come to him in his dreams.   It would be 06:59 - Mexico time - on June 20, 2021, when, from La Montaña and through a misty horizon, land from the Iberian Peninsula was sighted. It would be 09:14:45 when the ship anchored in the bay of Baiona or Bayona, Galicia, Spanish State, Europe. From there it is close, "a stone's throw", the geography called Portugal, and a little to the Northeast you can see Vigo. All in good health. For reasons of paperwork and so on, La Montaña and Squadron 421 will remain here until, tentatively, on Tuesday 22 at 1700 - the date and time in Vigo-, when the landing will be made. The Civil Guard of the Spanish State boarded the ship, took the data of the crew and passengers, reviewed the passports and carried out the routine check. No news. Weather conditions: cloudy, light but frequent rains, 15 degrees Celsius.
