The bias and racism in bordertown newsrooms, since the beginning of paper, has been obvious to anyone who spent time there. It is comparable to the current neglect and biased coverage by Nevada media on Native issues including the lithium mines, bombing range and nuclear genocide.
There is another factor, revealed in the internal files of TigerSwan, now public. It is the "placement" of stories in newspapers, which are often void of facts, and most certainly to promote the interests of the Dakota Access Pipeline.
Here's TigerSwan's list of some of the news articles that it planted in newspapers. It comes as no surprise that Bismarck Tribune is on the list of those publishing TigerSwan's planted articles.
One of the Inside Sources articles, on TigerSwan's planted list, was published nationwide as factual, without publishers determining the facts, as fact checker Snopes points out.
As for Bismarck Tribune, now that local police officers from Bismarck and Mandan are being exposed and accused of excessive force at Standing Rock in federal courts -- will the newspaper cover the story factually, and provide ethical coverage of excessive force at Standing Rock, as stated in the two cases now involving federal appeals courts.
Bismarck officers were among those who fired on Marcus Mitchell, Dine', shot in the eye by officers firing 12-gauge shotguns loaded with bean bags filled with shot. Marcus lost vision in his left eye. In a case heard by a federal appeals court last week, the City of Mandan, and the counties of Morton and Stuntman, and 100 officers yet to be named, are identified in the class action federal lawsuit filed by water protectors for excessive force by law enforcement.
