Blockade north of Dolbeau-Mistassini: indigenous guards of Nitassinan demand an end to forest cuts

[Mashteuiatsh, July 31, 2023] The Mashk Assi Collective, whose mission is to protect Nitassinan, sent a settlement to the company Resolu on July 31, 2023 to remind the opposition of the guardian families of the territory of the Innu Territory to any forest cutting on their territory (see attached). The company was advised by recommended mail that guards of the territory will be patrolling the area of km 40 north of Dolbeau-Mistassini to apply the self-determination of their ancestral sovereignty and to ensure that no unburnt trees are cut down for profit. A blockade was put in place in the sector on the morning of July 31, 2023 to monitor the enforcement of the Innue Law and compliance with the settlement.
