Hollywood stars — Alec Baldwin, Ed Norton, Yoko Ono — are backing the Sierra Club’s call for a march on Washington next weekend, “the largest climate rally in U.S. history.” Under the “Forward on Climate” banner, the target is clear in the Sierra Club’s marching call: “The first step to putting our country on the path to addressing the climate crisis is for President Obama to reject the Keystone XL tar sands pipeline.”

TEMPE, Arizona -- Navajos spoke out against dirty coal at the Salt River Project, operator of the Navajo Generating Station, one of the dirtiest coal-fired power plants in the US, during the Ash Wednesday Mob Protest. It was initiated by the Arizona Interfaith Power and Light Organization.

Marshall Johnson, Navajo environmental advocate and co-founder of  To Nizhoni Ahni (Beautiful Water Speaks), was invited to speak to a non-Native audience. He gave a startling backdrop to the social and environmental injustices stemming from coal mined on his ancestral land- Black Mesa which feeds the Navajo Generating Station with coal.  

Because of Navajo and Hopi coal, the state of Arizona and Maricopa county reap a $160 billion economy while an egregious disparity exists on Navajo land. 

The majority of the attendees were not aware of the startling statistics and the inequities before.

"This morning, these 48 people marched to the White House, and engaged in civil disobedience to stop the Keystone XL tar sands pipeline.
Some are ranchers. Some are religious leaders. Others are leaders of environmental organizations. Some have the pipeline in their back yard. They sat, they locked themselves to the fence -- but they all had one message:
Stop. This. Pipeline. SHARE this if you stand with them."
Arrests today: Landowners, business leaders, frontline communities, ranchers, Indigenous people, gulf coast residents, movement leaders and celebrities sit-in at White House to stop Keystone XL.
Joshua Kahn Russell said earlier today, "Julian Bond, former head of NAACP head getting arrested now. First time in Sierra Club's 120 year history that they are participating in Civil Disobedience. Landowners, Native Americans, Students, Frontline Community Members, Business Leaders, Organization CEOs, Celebs all risking arrest to stop Keystone XL."

MNN. Feb. 13, 2013. On February 12 Senator Brazeau went into the Senate Chambers in Ottawa looking like a grease ball, a disposable victim of the GMO Indian system! The government procurers are always casting around for naive young Indigenous blood. They take our young Indigenous, turn them into betrayers and then throw them away like a Bic Lighter. They let them drive Porsches and live high for a while. Then they pull the rug out from under them and like Joseph Brant, they die alone. Unless, of course, they change their ways.
