Central Missouri (Sept. 5, 2013) -- Michael Lane, on the Longest Walk 4 Return to Alcatraz focused on Indigenous sovereignty, said Day 53 on the five-month walk was a rough one.
"Tough 28 miles today; very weary and thankfully rest day tomorrow. Honored Amelia Lorueiro and her family, as she passed away the other day. She was a strong supporter of this Walk as well as 2008 and 1978 from the Klamath Nation, and was also a big part of the Oakland Indian community before moving back to Chiloquin," Lane said.
On Friday, the walkers were moving camp to Finger Lake State Park in Missouri, as they continue their path toward Kansas City.

The long walkers are in need of a tent, air mattresses to sleep on, and lighting for their camp. Censored News just made a $28 donation toward it. Hopefully several of our readers can match that. Donate on the Long Walk 4 PayPal at: www.returntoalcatraz.com

If you can host the walkers in your area, or provide meals, please contact the walk at: Wabus44@gmail.com or at their cell: 202-436-6576.
