Quechan Join Apache Stronghold on Prayer Journey to Supreme Court

On our prayer journey to the Supreme Court we gathered with the Ft. Yuma Quechan Nation. We met with Quechan leaders and members. We had an empowering discussion with council members and Lorey Cachora, archaeologist and tribal historian.
Dr. Nosie has stated, “The fight to protect Oak Flat is bigger than an Apache fight. It is now a fight to protect the human existence and Mother Earth.”
This is why the Quechan Tribe asked two young men, Quinn and Garrison, from their community to join the Apache Stronghold on their journey to the Supreme Court.
Quechan Councilman Zion White presented a letter to the Apache Stronghold stating, “The Quechan Tribe stands in solidarity with the Apache Stronghold and all allied efforts to safeguard sacred lands from exploitation and desecration. Oak Flats is not only a heritage site for the Apache people but also a symbol of the broader struggle to protect indigenous lands and rights.”
Dr. Wendsler Nosie Sr. shared that the Apache stronghold is entirely grateful for the Quechan Tribe’s aid in protecting Oak Flat which strengthens our communities together. This is a huge milestone for us as this shows the importance of unifying together in order to protect Mother Earth and our human rights. We also want to thank those who we’ve prayed with and that are coming with us to the filling in Washington D.C.
