No Haul! Uprising! Hopi and Navajo Host Music and Resistance in Tuba City

 



UPRISING! Tuba City, Arizona

On Saturday, August 10th, 5 p.m. Hopi/Arizona Time (6 pm Navajo Nation/Tuba City time), Cloud Mountain Arts will host a five hour rockout/community educational event in opposition to Energy Fuel’s hauling of radioactive material through the lands of Havasupai, Hopi, Navajo, and Ute Nations. The show will be held at the Legacy Room at the Moencopi Legacy Inn in Tuba City and will feature performances by Indigenous musicians: Nava-Hopi metal sensation Icy Whisper Official, Dine/Apache singer/songwriter Sage Bond, Hopi rockers Descendant and a special performance from ROADKILL made up of members of Tha Yoties and Innastate.

A history of the Pueblo Revolt of 1680 will be shared, as well education about uranium mining and transport on Native lands of the Colorado Plateau with admonitions to stand together against the desecration of Indigenous lands. Special Guests: Bucky Preston, Alicyn Gitlin and Coconino County Supervisor Lena Fowler. UPRISING is a FREE event! $5 Suggested donation to thank speakers and performers.
