LaJornada reports:

The Zapatista Army of National Liberation reported that it is building a new form of organization so that decisions and actions for autonomy, the defense of territory and indigenous rights are taken from the common, collective and non-hierarchical level, reports LaJornada correspondent Edgar H. Clemente, in Tapachula.

"During the second day of the Resistance and Rebellion meetings, as part of the activities for the 31st anniversary of the armed uprising, the forums were held yesterday in two discussion tables: Women and The First Steps of the Zapatista Community.

"Insurgent Subcommander Moisés explained that in order to make a decision in Zapatismo, a large general assembly is now held, whose proposals are disseminated in the communities where adjustments are made and returned for implementation.

"The discussions now are carried out in a common way by us Zapatistas, not like before, a pyramid, he pointed out during the forum The first steps of the common Zapatista.

"He explained that they have opened participation to the general public as long as they agree with the idea of building a new and better way of life outside the government system.

"We want our differences to end because we are the same poor people, stressed Moisés.

"The EZLN stated that one of the problems facing the villages is that the ejidatarios have sold their lands as a result of programs such as sowing death and the children have taken refuge in the Zapatista communities in search of land for their crops.

"This has implied forms of organization to work the land in common between Zapatistas and peasants where they are the owners of the crops, but not the space. However, there are those who have wanted to appropriate it with the argument of the application of the law for the use of the land after three years.

"The law of bad government does not apply here, we can tear that out and take it down the drain. We told them in the agreement that it is a loan; this agreement is renewed every year, he added.

"They have also collectively organized other activities that were previously carried out in isolation in localities, such as the integration of a health and educational system, cultural and sports activities, among others.

"No to private property, yes to organized labor.

"No to private property, yes to communal work, launched the insurgent subcommander Moisés."
