Cree Dene Mskwaasin Agnew to Join Freedom Flotilla 'Letter on the Siege on Gaza'

"This Warrior Flag was actually at Standing Rock," said Mskwaasin Agnew, Cree Dene on the Freedom Flotilla to Gaza today. This flag also flew at the Wet'suwet'en's Gidimt'en Checkpoint. The women also brought an Anishinaabe flag that flew at 1492 Land Back Lane at Six Nations. Remembering the photos of the Warrior flag in Jabalia in Gaza, she said, "This is a symbol of Global Indigenous Solidarity, and Global Indigenous Solidarity means that none of us are free until all of us are free." Agnew said, "I have joined the Freedom Flotilla Coalition to break the siege on Gaza with Dr. Suzanne Shoush and fellow comrades from Turtle Island. Break the siege on Gaza NOW! Solidarity to the global Indigenous resistance."

Speaking on Thursday, Sept. 18, aboard the Flotilla to Gaza, Mskwaasin Agnew, said, "The time to take a stand is now. We never needed the United Nations declaration to see the truth with our own eyes. Get up. Do something. Free Palestine," she said.

"As a First Nations woman, I find no legitimacy in appealing to the oppressor, the Canadian state. We will no longer accept their war crimes."

"Get out there!"

Indigenous Women Join Freedom Flotilla to Gaza

Today, Indigenous women fly the Warrior flag over the Freedom Flotilla to Gaza, the flag that once flew at Standing Rock. We remember the young woman who came to Standing Rock from Seattle. She was assassinated by Israel one year ago while sheltering beside an Olive Tree. "I Stand with Standing Rock," Aysenur Eygi said at Standing Rock in defense of the water from Dakota Access Pipeline at the age of 18. Aysenur was assassinated by an Israeli soldier after peace observers held a prayer gathering in the West Bank.
