The Rich and Famous Cross Protest Line to Flaunt Excess at Lavish White House Correspondents Dinner

WASHINGTON -- The rich and famous, politicians and the media, crossed the protest line to flaunt excesses at the White House Correspondents Dinner and ignored an official black SUV plowing into climate defenders on Saturday.

Today, the big media is focused on fashion and the famous, and Biden's jokes at the dinner for media correspondents. Very few media outlets have covered the protests, calling for Biden to live up to his promises of ending fossil fuels and halt the constant new permits for oil and gas leases.

There's been very little coverage of the official black SUV, with lights flashing, plowing into climate defenders as shown in live videos, which were posted on Twitter as it happened. Only UK Daily Mail, Euronews and Fox News covered it quickly. Today, it is buried in Google News articles and difficult to locate.

Third-Act elders set up their rocking chairs at the back entrance. Meanwhile, the larger group of climate defenders blocked the front entrance. An official black SUV, with lights flashing, pulled up, pressed on the gas, and rammed the climate defenders.

"What we must do is never quit. Because if we never quit, we can never lose," said Tennessee Rep. Jason Pearson over a loudspeaker, as politicians, media and celebrities tried to cut through, or walk around, climate defenders.

"Everybody has a right to live. I'm not behind it, but in front of it. I'm so glad to be in the movement for justice alongside you," Rep. Pearson told the crowd. https://twitter.com/i/status/1652460000156033024

The After Partys

Climate Defiance said:

"The next morning we rushed the CNN afterparty. And we occupied it, calling on them to cover climate and hold Biden accountable. They were so threatened by our peaceful movement they slammed one of us into a wall. They called the police. But we will not be deterred. Onwards."

With multiple protests underway during Saturday and Sunday, Climate Defiance said, "We are sitting in at CNN’s White House Correspondents Dinner 'hangover brunch.' They have refused to expose Biden’s climate crimes. So we are shutting down their afterparty."

"If you are questioning our choice to blockade billionaires at the Correspondents Dinner Remember The top 1% emit more carbon than the entirety of the bottom 50 percent," Climate Defiance said.

Biden's Gluttony for OIl and Gas Drilling

While self-promoting as protecting the environment, Biden signed off on new oil and gas drilling, the Willow Project in Alaska, and earlier approved oil and gas drilling in the Gulf of Mexico and Greater Chaco Canyon, near the heritage site sacred to Hopi, Pueblo and Dine'.

At the same time, Biden and Interior Sec. Deb Haaland are on the side of a foreign copper mining corporation fighting Apaches in federal court. They are pushing for the devastation of Apaches' sacred Oak Flat, where ceremonies are held and medicine plants gathered in Arizona. The proposed copper mine would turn this ceremonial place into a crater and poison the water.

Biden and Haaland have already permitted and are encouraging the foreign mining company Lithium Americas of Canada that is now digging into the Paiute Massacre Site at Thacker Pass in Nevada for lithium, the new fake 'green solution' and 'white gold' for corporations. Paiute women and children were murdered here by U.S. soldiers and left there.

Inside the media correspondents' dinner, the rich and famous flaunted the excesses of high fashion and big money, while enjoying their lavish meal and Biden's jokes, as reported by the media.

Biden's Bogus Promise

Here's the bogus promise Biden made in 2020.

"Number one, no more subsidies for the fossil fuel industry. No more drilling on federal lands. No more drilling, including offshore. No ability for the oil industry to continue to drill, period, ends," Biden said at a March 2020 Democratic presidential debate.

Another Promise: A New One for Minnesota's Line 3

As for the results, Climate Defiance, which organized the protest, said, "U.S. Senator Tina Smith (D-MN) pledged for the first time ever that she will call on Biden to stop Line 3, which is pumping 700,000 barrels per day of tar sands oil through her home state.

"She made this promise while trying to wade through our blockade."

The Bottom Line

In the whirl of high fashion, it is ironic that those who cross picket lines are referred to as "scabs."
