Update: Tohono O'odham and San Carlos Apache Nations filed for an injunction on Wednesday:
“Every single one of us has a history to this place. We’ve driven through there, we have connections, we’ve prayed, you know, all that matters. Our human lives matter,” said Vernelda Grant with the San Carlos Apache Tribe.
San Carlos Apache and Tohono O’odham Nations' members along with Archaeology Southwest and the Center for Biological Diversity filed an injunction to halt work on the SunZia power line where it crosses the San Pedro River Valley.
The line is expected to carry electricity from wind farms to cities in the west. The tribes said in court that their concerns about the powerline’s impact on cultural sites were ignored by the Bureau of Land Management and Pattern Energy. -- KOLD Tucson
