Cree/Dene Boards Flotilla to Gaza: A Survivor's Message on Day of National Truth and Reconciliation

After the boat was bombed off shore in Malta in May, and was earlier delayed in Turkey, the Conscience set sail today

"We are at sea, finally!" Mskwaasin said now, in a live broadcast from aboard the Conscience, a larger vessel made up of about 100 health care workers and journalists. "It is actually amazing that the Conscience is sailing again. It was bombed last May in Malta," she said. Before that it was stuck in a port in Turkey, because the vessel had lost its flag, and the Turkish people in solidarity with Palestine blockaded the port until the boat was allowed to leave. "There is an amazing crew here, amazing health care workers. And it is also Truth and Reconciliation Day in so-called Canada," she said. "Not only were my grandparents robbed of their childhoods -- but the children of Palestine have had their childhoods stolen."

As a staff reporter at Indian Country Today, I was forbidden to write about, even research, the Raytheon Diné Facility on the Navajo commercial farm, Navajo Agricultural Products Industry, near Shiprock, which produces missile parts for Raytheon, now one of the top profiteers from the genocide in Palestine.

After the newspaper was sold to new owners in New York State, the editors became personally involved, and went to Cuba to cut a deal to sell NAPI produce to Cuba.

The Global Sumud Flotilla said the flotilla was surrounded by explosions, and hit with chemicals, as the flotilla of fifty ships is off the shore of Crete in international waters and nearing Gaza with humanitarian aid.

"At least 14 boats have been hit. We are still assessing the damage," the Flotilla said today, Wednesday, at noon New York time.

"We need you now more than ever. We need the world’s eyes on Gaza and on the Flotilla."

Indigenous women from the far north, and the Amazon, are on the Flotilla. Women from the United States are also on the boats.

Navajo President urges Dine' to join ICE

While ICE is being protested around the country for the brutal arrests of crop workers in the fields, food vendors, and drags mothers and fathers from their homes -- Navajo President Buu Nygren urged Dine' to join ICE.

"President Nygren called for the recruitment of Navajo citizens into federal enforcement roles, including ICE, citing their strong military backgrounds, cultural understanding, and ability to foster trust within Native communities," Nygren's office said in a statement after meeting with federal law enforcement in Phoenix.

Dine' responded to the Navajo President.

"He Wants Diné to Work for ICE."

"Nygren called on Navajo citizens to join ICE. ICE is an agency known for separating families, abusing Indigenous people along the border, and terrorizing communities. For a Navajo president to encourage Diné to become agents of ICE is betrayal. He is asking us to turn against our relatives for federal approval."

Cree Dene Mskwaasin Agnew to Join Freedom Flotilla 'Letter on the Siege on Gaza'

"This Warrior Flag was actually at Standing Rock," said Mskwaasin Agnew, Cree Dene on the Freedom Flotilla to Gaza today. This flag also flew at the Wet'suwet'en's Gidimt'en Checkpoint. The women also brought an Anishinaabe flag that flew at 1492 Land Back Lane at Six Nations. TURTLE MOUNTAIN, North Dakota -- From boarding school to the fishing rights struggle in the Northwest, to the Trail of Broken Treaties and Wounded Knee, Leonard Peltier fought the good fight, and after 49 years and two months in prison, it brought him home again.

Speaking with Amy Goodman at Democracy Now! from his home on Turtle Mountain, Peltier shares the reality of being in prison. Even before his long imprisonment, the battle for justice propelled him forward.

Peltier thought he would die in prison.

Recounting his life, Peltier remembers the starvation in his homeland as the U.S. attempted termination and the threat of death by the U.S. military for those at Wounded Knee. Peltier remembers being arrested with Marlon Brando, the injustice that imprisoned him, and his life and his struggles today.

Remembering the brutality of boarding school, Peltier says, the purpose of boarding schools is "to take the Indian out of the Indians." The danger continues, Peltier adds. The International Indigenous Youth Council announced today solidarity with two Indigenous women from Turtle Island joining  the Freedom Flotilla bringing aid to Gaza.

Indigenous women joined the flotilla bringing humanitarian aid to Gaza, where the horror of starvation and genocide is ongoing. The flotilla boats were hit twice by explosives during drone attacks in Tunisia.

The Global Sumud Flotilla set sail today from Italy, Tunisia and Greece to unite in International waters, the flotilla said Sunday morning, at noon New York time. Boats from Spain had already set sail, among 44 countries sending delegations and boats from around the world.

Now we are surrounded by 400 million non-indigenous strangers on turtle island who are under the illusion that they own this land. When the pretend people created by Artificial Intelligence AI start to replace the workers speaking AI, we will be hearing non human language. Most will leave and take their non-turtle island languages with them. Those few left behind will speak a new language made up by their AI machines until they leave or fluently speak one of our indigenous languages. As they will be the minority on turtle island AI will speak for them or we can turn them off. Then what? Their old regular brains will be useless and will be put away. They don ‘t know how to act without command. They won’t have any power here as creation intended. Eventually their imported languages will totally disappear. We will never have to hear their blasphemy which has maimed us and our mother.

A tribute to those who came together on the Navajo Nation in 1990 and created the solidarity movement to protect the water, air and land, today's environmental justice movement. They came from the fishing rights struggle in the northwest, and the Seminoles came from Florida. Hopi Thomas Banyacya was there, and Jim Main from Gros Ventre in Montana, they came from Mohawk lands, and the border, and it was a beginning. They came from near and far -- Havasupai, Zuni Pueblo and Pine Ridge, and gave birth to the movement that has spanned the past 35 years. In Kanehsatake in 1990 our people stood up and said “No”!  All our land has been taken violently and physically. The only thing they fear are the ‘warriors’ of Ohsweken, Tyendinaga, Akwesasne, Kahnawake, Ganiengeh and all our brother and sisters on turtle island.
