Ox Sam Camp, Thacker Pass, Nevada -- I would like to ask all of you out there to kindly share this for my fellow sister warrior descendant, she stands here for her lineage through her great great grandfather Ox Sam whose family was massacred here at Thacker Pass also known as Peehee Muhu which is translated as Rotten Moon.

Due to recent events of her being served a TPO that is restricting her from accessing her Rights to her unmarked ancestral burial grounds and sacred site at Sentinel Rock by Lithium America Corporation. She now has to go back and forth to Winnemucca 150 miles round trip where the court is being held and conducted which adds up a lot of miles and she is still looking for a Nevada attorney preferably pro indigenous rights for her legal issues filed by Lithium America a Canadian Base Corporation. So we're kindly asking you all to share these links to try and get her all the help we can do for her and to help her along as we continue to shed light and love on the current happenings at PeeHee Muhu Ox Sam Camp. The legal hearing for Dorece, Chuck, Paul, and Max is now scheduled for Friday at 1:30 pm in Winnemucca. We're asking the court for an extension but it may not be granted. So that's our timeline for now. I'm not sure if supporters will be allowed in the courtroom, but if anyone wants to come out and support us feel free (although I wouldn't want to take people away from camp). For now, that's our deadline for legal representation. The situation is evolving. Thank you.

GU VO DISTRICT, Tohono O'odham Nation -- The surveillance continued by the Arizona Civil Air Patrol this morning, Wednesday morning, over the home of Raymond Mattia, Tohono O'odham, murdered by the U.S. Border Patrol. The plane flew very low over the homes of Mattia's family members and could be seen clearly from the ground.

This morning, the Civil Air Patrol plane flew out of Sierra Vista, where the Army's Fort Huachuca is located this morning, and then flew over the home of Raymond and the homes of his family members here on the western part of the Tohono O'odham Nation. It departed Sierra Vista this morning at 6:24 am.

On Saturday, as Tohono O'odham and supporters were leaving for the protest of the Ajo Border Patrol, another Civil Air Patrol plane flew over the area, including the homes of Raymond's family. It departed from Mesa in the Phoenix area, south of Salt River, and landed south of the protest shortly before the protest began at the Ajo Border Patrol station in Why, Arizona.

Then, on Sunday morning, another Civil Air Patrol plane flew out of Tucson over the area of Raymond's home, on the western portion of the Tohono O'odham Nation.

These Civil Air Patrol planes have no recent history of patrolling this area. The Civil Air Patrol is an auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force manned by volunteers.

Tohono O'odham family and friends protested at the Ajo Border Patrol station on Saturday, demanding justice for Raymond Mattia, murdered by the U.S. Border Patrol. Three Border Patrol agents fired their weapons as Raymond was coming out the front door of his home to talk to them. Raymond's sister was on the phone with him seconds before he was shot. The family was told at the scene that Raymond was shot 38 times on May 18, 2023.

One of the most censored issues is the fact that the U.S. Border Patrol is running drugs at the border.

Raymond Mattia, Tohono O'odham, murdered by U.S. Border Patrol agents, was outspoken about this. Ten years ago, Raymond told me that he had videotaped U.S. Border Patrol agents locally working with the cartels and drug running. When he submitted this video evidence as a complaint, the video disappeared.

On the night he was murdered by the U.S. Border Patrol, at his home on the western side of the Tohono O'odham Nation, Raymond was on the phone with his sister when the Border Patrol agents arrived. He said he would go outside and talk to them.

They murdered Raymond as he came out the door, on his front steps. Three officers fired their weapons. They told the family at the scene that they shot him 38 times. The Border Patrol left Raymond there for seven hours. The Border Patrol has not released its body cam footage.

Protest for Justice Today

Today, Saturday, protests calling for justice for the murder of Tohono O'odham Raymond Mattia, at both Ajo station in Why, Arizona, and Tucson. Mattia's family members will be at both locations, from 10 am. until noon. The US Border Patrol Tucson Sector Headquarters is at 2430 S Swan Rd (Golf Links Rd) Tucson, Arizona 85711. Mattia was murdered on the front step of his home on the Tohono O'odham Nation. Three Border Patrol agents fired their weapons.

Raymond Mattia's sister was on the phone with Raymond when he said he would go out and talk to the Border Patrol agents. That is when they shot him repeatedly on the doorstep of his home.

STATEMENT FROM MATTIA FAMILY 

We have been trying to find the strength to write this statement. This tragedy is so grievous because it is apparent what had happened. Raymond called for help and, in turn, was shot down at his doorstep. Raymond's rights were violated by the authorities whom we trust to protect our Nation. Improper and unprofessional actions of the agencies involved were witnessed by family members present near the crime scene. Loved ones sat in agony, not knowing of Raymond's condition until they were told that he had passed hours later. Raymond lay in front of his home for seven hours before a coroner from Tucson arrived.

In our eyes and hearts, we believe that Raymond was approached with excessive and deadly force that took his life. He was a father, brother, uncle, friend, and an involved community member. Raymond always fought for what was right, and he will continue to fight even after his death. This is not an isolated incident, but it should bring awareness of the oppression our people live through.

We want to thank so many of you for your condolences and support. A GoFundMe for defense funds will be available soon. A peaceful gathering to support all victims of the unmonitored violent actions of the Border Patrol and other agencies will be held at The Border Patrol Station in Why, Az, and Tucson on Golf Links Road this Saturday, May 27th, from 10:00am-Noon.

PEEHEE MU'HUH (Thacker Pass) Nevada -- Fort McDermitt Paiute Shoshone Dorece Sam was served with a temporary restraining order by the Humboldt County Sheriffs Department on Friday, as she protected the Paiute Massacre Site from a foreign mining company, Lithium Americas, now ripping into the land.

Paiute and Shoshone are protecting the massacre site, and put up a second tipi this week, which is now the second week of defending the land, water, and sacred place. President Biden and the Interior Department are continuing to green-light the desecration by the lithium mine construction, calling lithium mining "green energy," and violating federal laws which protect Native American burial places, endangered species and groundwater.

Dorece Sam said, "So much has happened our numbers are small. The elders did a call out. As I got up every morning, offering prayers to protect our ancestors' unmarked burial grounds at Thacker Pass, also known as Peehee Muhu, the birds were singing their beautiful morning songs."

During my visits to Ali Jegk as a news reporter ten years ago, I interviewed Raymond Mattia, who was killed by U.S. Border Patrol on Thursday night. Raymond told me that he had evidence that U.S. Border Patrol agents in the area were working with the cartels and were involved in drug running. Ophelia along with the others in the community is angry.

"I have dealt with Border Patrol aggression and unmonitored behavior out here on Tohono O'odham land without any regard to the respect and to the land and to the people," Ophelia told KVOA news.

Mattia was a father, a brother, a friend, a ceremony person, and an elected community council member in Ali Jegk, located near Menegers Dam, on the western side of the Tohono O'odham Nation, in Arizona.

The Tohono O'odham Nation released a statement today.

"The Tohono O’odham Police Department (TOPD) and the FBI are investigating an officer-involved shooting that took place in the Meneger’s Dam community of the Tohono O’odham Nation the night of Thursday, May 18, 2023. Nation member Raymond Mattia lost his life in the incident. Our hearts go out to his family and all those impacted during this difficult time," Chairman Ned Norris said.

"As the investigation proceeds, the Nation expects full consideration of all related facts of the incident and an appropriate and expeditious response from relevant public safety agencies. Because the investigation is ongoing, we will refrain from making further comment at this time."

After a week of peaceful, prayerful resistance at PeeHee Mu’huh, the Fort McDermitt Paiute Shoshone elders and their relatives are erecting another tipi at their traditional cultural property, Pee’zuh (Nipple Rock). This comes a day after Lithium Americas tore open land adjacent to Pee’zuh for their water pipeline.

The Fort McDermitt Paiute Shoshone Tribal elders/members were never consulted about the requirements of the National Environmental Policy Act, National Historic Preservation Act, and more about destroying PeeHee Muhah and Pee’zuh for the world’s largest open pit lithium mine. Lithium Nevada is adversely affecting this land irreversibly!

Paiute and Shoshone are resisting a foreign mining company, Lithium Americas of Vancouver, Canada,  destroying the land where Paiute were massacred. Biden and Interior Secretary Deb Haaland's Bureau of Land Management, BLM, issued the permit, even though it violates federal laws -- including laws protecting Native American burial places, and environmental laws protecting endangered species. Thacker Pass is in northern Nevada near the Oregon border. The camp, Ox Sam, is named after one of the only survivors of the massacre. -- Censored News.
