STONE RIDGE, N.Y., Feb. 8, 2021 via REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. — "Akantu: Origin Series" is a new CD from Tiokasin Ghosthorse. The CD, which includes four tracks of spoken word and music, is Ghosthorse's fifth release. Like all of Ghosthorse's past projects, "Akantu: Origin Series" was inspired by and is dedicated to Mother Earth.

"Akantu: Origin Series" was recorded live on October 12, 2017 at The National Sawdust in Brooklyn,  New York. "This was a gathering of Original Nations and notions of beings with the elemental evolution of letting the mystery go where it will with music, spoken word and presence," says Ghosthorse.

"The music, which I call 'improv-intuition,' is intended to remove listeners from the constant hustle and bustle of cities and urban areas everywhere in the world and draw them into the stillness of my world," said Ghosthorse. "Mine is a world where simple listening and Mother Earth transcend all other concerns."

Other musicians accompanying Ghosthorse, who performs on Lakota flute, include: Dave Eggar on cello; Paul Juba Mueller on hammered dulcimer and percussion; and Charley Buckland on bass and 12-string guitar.

"Akantu means Earth Man or Earth Mind, the being from the ancient future now," says Ghosthorse. "All of this meaning is in this word, a Lakota verb for the motion of being, for the consciousness and intelligence of the water, fire, earth, winds, and all that is sentient. It is everything seemingly possible when every moment begins in innocence without the 'new' concept, without the guilt concept, or the constructs tied to cause and effect. Lakota being is a language without nouns."

"I hope this music will help to deepen the connection within ourselves rather than the numbing of much of today's escapist music," says Ghosthorse. "We have to get real, and part of that is listening to music of consciousness."

"Akantu: Origin Series" is produced by Ghosthorse. The CD was engineered and recorded by Meyer Sound: Thinking Sound and mastered by Tom Buckland - Mill Rat Audio.
