The Intercept: Your car is spying on you -- New technology allows cell data to be stored and extracted

New technology allows all of your data from your cell phone to be extracted from a smart car's computer, from both personal cars and rental cars, The Intercept reveals.

That includes your contact list, messages, e-mails and locations. When you connect to the car's USB charger, it extracts your phone's data and stores it in the car's computer. It can be retrieved by law enforcement.

US Customs and Border Patrol used the technology.

In one rental car, the phone messages of more than 70 car renters could be read. The car renters had connected their phone to the USB charger.

It is warrantless spying.

This meeting place in the center of tiani tiotiakon, of kanienkehaka. is for all our allies. The kanienkehaka have always been the protectors of the ‘eastern door’ of turtle island. Any of our family may come here to council with us and with each other. No one can remove us or our land and allies.
