Lakota Language Advocate Prevails in Attack on Teaching License

Austrian and Czech heads of the Lakota Language Consortium were unable to take away the teaching license of Ray Taken Alive, Lakota language teacher. The LLC was already banned by the Standing Rock Lakota Nation in North Dakota. LLC believes it owns the images and words of Lakotas, including Ray's grandmother. Read the statement just released by Ray's attorneys Big Fire. Ray had to raise funds after LLC went after his license in an effort to silence him.

Ray said, "In 2020, My Grandmother, Delores Taken Alive, passed away from Covid and since then we’ve been working to reclaim all rights to her Lakota language materials from the Lakota Language Consortium (LLC). The LLC Board Chairman, Wilhelm Meya, is of Austrian descent and receives a salary of over 6 figures selling our language, including materials that belong to my Grandmother ... They have wielded the power of 'copyright' over me twice by accusing me, a Lakota language instructor, of copyright infringement."

The Nevada mine is in the works near the Oregon line and would involve extraction of the silvery-white metal used in electric-vehicle batteries.

Lawyers for Lithium Americas — the Canadian company that broke ground on the project in March — as well as the U.S. government, conservationists, tribes and a Nevada rancher were allotted time to highlight their positions during Tuesday’s hearing before a three-judge panel in Pasadena, California."

The Intercept -- Border Patrol Video of Killing Shows Native Man Had No Gun. Complied With Orders

The Intercept reports that Raymond Mattia, Tohono O'odham, complied with officers, who fired as many as 38 rounds at him as he came out of his front door to talk to them.

The Border Patrol agents were cursing at Raymond as they murdered him. There were 10 officers' bodycam recordings -- but only one officer's edited footage was released to the family and public. The officers present at the crime scene were both U.S. Border Patrol agents, and Tohono O'odham Nation police. -- Censored News.

The autopsy report states that Raymond Mattia, Tohono O'odham, was the victim of homicide when shot nine times by three U.S. Border Patrol agents.

Ten years ago, Raymond told Censored News that he had videotaped local U.S. Border Patrol agents escorting drug cartels across the border with their drug loads. Raymond said after he submitted the evidence -- it disappeared.

Indigenous guardians of the ancestral territories of the Innu, Atikamekw and Mohawk are demanding a moratorium on logging in Quebec.

This coalition is made up of the Innu collective Mashk Assi, which defends the unceded territory of Nitassinan; the Ekoni Aci movement, which brings together defenders of the Atikamekw territory of Manawan and Wemotaci; and the Kanien’kehà:ka Kahnistensera, better known as the Mohawk Mothers.

RENO, Nevada — Lithium Nevada Corporation has filed a lawsuit against Protect Thacker Pass and seven people for opposing the Thacker Pass lithium mine.
The lawsuit is similar to what is called a “Strategic Lawsuit Against Public Participation,” or SLAPP suit, aimed at shutting down free speech and protest. The suit aims to ban the prayerful land defenders from the area and force them to pay monetary damages which could total millions of dollars.

ORVADA, Nevada -- Ox Sam Camp's Sacred Eagle Staff and Ceremonial Items were illegally confiscated and in the possession of Lithium Americas of Canada security before these were retrieved after the raid on the camp.

Dorece Sam, Fort McDermitt Paiute Shoshone, said that Auntie Josephine retrieved the Eagle Staff, and they now have their Eagle Feathers, Ceremonial Items, and Ceremonial Tipi after these were confiscated during a raid on Ox Sam Camp, led by Humboldt County Sheriffs Dept.

Lithium Americas had the Eagle Staff upside down in a trash bag. The Eagle Staff was being held at Lithium Americas security building.

Sam said they blessed it after it was returned. The tents and personal items were not returned.

Lithium Americas has just filed a SLAPP lawsuit against Paiute Shoshone protectors of the Paiute Massacre Site at Thacker Pass.

Humboldt County Sheriffs Department and Lithium Americas raided the camp and violated federal law by confiscating Ceremonial Eagle Feathers, and arresting and terrorizing a young Dine' woman during law enforcement transport.

Lithium Americas is a foreign company based in Vancouver, Canada. Biden, the Interior Department and the BLM are responsible for the lease to desecrate and destroy the burial places of the Paiute Massacre Site in northern Nevada, in violation of federal laws which protect Native American burial places, endangered species and their habitat and groundwater. Biden calls this "green energy."

Dorece Sam and Auntie Josephine are descendants of Ox Sam, one of the only survivors of the 1865 Massacre of Paiute by U.S. soldiers.

Myron livestreamed from the Fallon bombing range the day before he was killed, opposing its expansion being pushed by the Nevada Congressional delegation. Myron spoke out in protection of the Paiute Massacre Site at Thacker Pass, opposing the lithium mine there. Why was the case turned over to a new prosecutor, who reduced the two charges to a single misdemeanor just prior to sentencing, resulting in only minimal penalties? The case was transferred from Tonopah Court to Pahrump Court.

Fifteen years before The Dawes Act became law on January 8, 1887, the U.S. Congress was having second thoughts about Indians being sovereign nations in “Indian Territory." Indian Territory was the land promised at the end of the “Trail of Tears." Today, we know it as the State of Oklahoma.

Andrew Jackson’s Indian Removal Act of 1830 was the ethnic cleansing of the Indians east of the Mississippi to their new promised land west of the Mississippi. What is wrong with this picture of a homeland supposedly protected from land-hungry whites suddenly transformed into a landscape of “Oklahoma Sooners” riding buckboards and horses galloping into Indian Territory to stake their claim?
