ST LOUIS, MO -- There were 12 of us who traveled from Dził Yíjiin (Black Mesa) to the headquarters of Peabody Energy in St. Louis, Missouri to demand justice for our homeland as Peabody declares bankruptcy. We stood in solidarity with Rocky Branch and people across the world impacted by Peabody. We took the streets as our friends and allies blockaded traffic. We sang many songs to honor our elders past and present who have always fought for future generations to maintain a connection to Dził Yíjiin. We must make damn sure Peabody is held accountable for fully restoring everything it has destroyed.
Without water all life on Black Mesa will cease to exist. Peabody must replenish the Navajo Aquifer in quality and quantity and the Department of Interior must hold Peabody liable for damages until the N-Aquifer shows full recovery
