Free Suntree – Secwepemc Land Defender

Free Suntree – Secwepemc Land Defender

Contact: Kanahus Manuel
Burnaby, BC, March 29th, 2018

On Thursday March 29th at 3pm Secwepemc land defender Suntree Johnson Larue was ambushed by undercover cops while he walked up to Camp Cloud near the gates of the Kinder Morgan tank farm in Burnaby BC. The RCMP targeted Suntree with a co-ordinated and forceful attack, in stark contrast to the way RCMP handled the public arrests of settlers last week.

Suntree is one of hundreds of Indigenous people across Turtle Island who have been criminalized for standing up for the land, for sovereign rights, and against the Kinder Morgan pipeline.

“This province is in a very unique situation because Indigenous people here have never surrendered our lands,” said Kanahus Manuel, a member of the Secwepemc Nation and a leader of the Tiny House Warriors movement. “When we stand up for our laws and our basic rights, rights that are protected even within the constitution, we are still criminalized. We’re arrested for defending our basic need like water and our way of life.”

The RCMP continue to remove Indigenous peoples from their land in service of corporations and in the name of the national interest, and Kinder Morgan has used the colonial courts to enforce an injunction that infringes on the rights and responsibilities of Indigenous peoples. All along the Kinder Morgan pipeline route Indigenous nations do not consent to this pipeline.

Their right to free prior and informed consent, affirmed in the United Nations Declaration of the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, has been blatantly disregarded. Despite this prime minister’s promise to uphold UNDRIP, destructive projects are being pushed through in this era of so called truth and reconciliation.

“Over half the length of the Trans Mountain pipeline crosses Secwepemc territory, and Suntree has travelled to stand with the Coast Salish people to defend their collective rights,” Manuel said. “We demand Suntree’s release, so he can be with his family and his home on the land. He does not belong locked up in a Canadian jail cell.”

First and only:
The Happy Family.
A town, or a city, or whatever it’s called. A place in the world. A wall. Hung on the rough surface of the huge wall is a flyer, a poster, or whatever you call it. In the image, a man and woman smile in front of a table brimming with a wide variety of food. To the couple’s right, a smiling girl; to their left, a boy grinning to display gleaming teeth. Above them in large and intimidating letters reads “THE HAPPY FAMILY”. The poster is old by now, time’s march forward having muted the colors that, we assume, were once bright and, yes, happy. Anonymous hands have added small paper signs to the wall: “The happy family is happy only with God’s blessing”; “No to gay parenting! Death to faggots and dykes!”; “Motherhood is what defines a happy woman”; “We unclog pipes: no-obligation estimates”; “Happy home available for rent to a happy family. Unhappy families need not apply”.

EXPELLED FROM GLOBAL DAYCARE

Please post & distribute.
MNN. 27, 2018. The political baby sitters of the world are kicking each other around right left and center. They’re not sure why they’re mad at each other. Liz May of the UK says, “It’s a secret!”. She refuses to produce any evidence about her accusation that the Russians sprayed nerve gas on a former Russian double agent and his daughter. Now some of her gang has jumped into the fray against Russia. They are ready to pull hair [if they have any] and bite the bear. This is not diplomacy. If they’re not careful they might be expelled from their jobs like this child was removed at a local daycare.

Autumn Peltier, 13, Speaks out for Water at U.N., Sends Message to Trudeau on Pipelines

Addressing the United Nations General Assembly, Indigenous Youth Autumn Peltier has message for Prime Minister Trudeau on pipelines
Treaty Alliance Against Tar Sands Expansion
Mar 22, 2018, 09:48 ET

WINNIPEG, March 22, 2018 /CNW/ - Autumn Peltier, a 13-year old water advocate from the Wikwemikong First Nation in northern Ontario, is addressing world leaders today at the United Nations General Assembly in New York City on World Water Day. Autumn is part of the official launch of the United Nations International Decade for Action on Water for Sustainable Development project but she also has a special message for Canada's Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

"Prime Minister Trudeau personally told me he would protect our water just like he promised everyone that he would be a climate leader – instead, he continues to push for three oil sands pipelines: Kinder Morgan, Line 3 and Keystone XL," said Autumn Peltier. "As politicians fail us, so many people are standing up to support the right of Indigenous Peoples to say NO to these pipelines, like the 150 Nations all along the pipeline routes who have signed the Treaty Alliance Against Tar Sands Expansion."

Autumn Peltier has travelled the world as a celebrated ambassador for 'Nibi' (water) and was the only child from Canada to be nominated for the 2017 International Children's Peace Prize. On March 10, Autumn Peltier led a delegation of Treaty Alliance Chiefs from across Canada to BC to support, along with thousands of Coast Protectors, the "Kwekwecnewtxw - Protect the Inlet" project by Coast Salish water protectors who built a traditional Watch House in the path of the Kinder Morgan pipeline.

The Treaty Alliance Against Tar Sands Expansion, launched on September 22, 2016, opposes the expansion of the Alberta Tar Sands, including the proposed Teck "Frontier" mine (which would be the largest ever open-pit tar sands mine), and bars the passage of proposed tar sands pipeline and rail projects, including their associated tanker traffic, which projects threaten our water and coasts and would fuel catastrophic climate change. The 150 First Nations and US Tribes who have signed the Indigenous treaty have committed to work collectively to enforce the ban, including against Kinder Morgan's Trans Mountain Expansion, TransCanada's Keystone XL and Enbridge's Line 3.

Facebook Caught in Spy-for-Dollars Scheme

Some would call it karma. We were writing about how Facebook had provided a platform for the theft of the content and revenues of honest people, tee-shirt designers, hard working news reporters, and many others.
Then, at the same time, bam, Facebook gets caught with far more than screwing over the little people. It got caught with its major spy-for-dollars-of-your-data, with a crash costing it $50 billion in its market value since last week, and a call to testify before Congress about Cambridge Analytica.
Of course Facebook is still collecting your data, and not just for advertising purposes to sell you something.
The data is given to the military, law enforcement, political campaigns and global intelligence officers. No surprise here, but at least it gives us the names.
And, of course, Cambridge was just linked to the Blackwater founder. Again, no surprise here.

How trolls take over the conversation
The news reports have explained how trolls create trends on Facebook. First, they create arguments and drama, which heats up the clicks and sharing. This is another good reason to use "delete" and "block" so trolls don't take over the conversation.

Made it home, my face is burnt, tired, muscles are sore, but I still smile. This week was full of love and uniting together for one cause and supporting one another. It was all worth it, the sacrifice and the suffering, all for healing of our lands and identity.
I miss everyone and we will see each other again when our paths cross. Until than, y'all take care and keep doing your thing. Despite all the downfalls we always rise, stronger than before we knock down barriers and fight through obstacles. We all sacrificed time away from home and loved ones to commit to the prayer and healing.
It's good to take time away from society that blocks us from seeing the true beauty of nature. We lose our connection in the "fast paced" world we live in and forget our ways at times. Visit areas near and far from your homeland and take the time to pray and meditate. Occupy these areas often to connect, these sites are very powerful and beautiful.
Thanks to all those that supported this run. Whether you jumped in and ran some miles or your words of encouragement pushed us through, reassuring us we are doing the right thing. Your support and words is what moves us to keep this going and leaves us with hope. Our youth need the guidance and encouragement.
Sisters and brothers we are strong and resilient people. Our ancestors are proof of this, we been in tough waters and it won't get easier. Keep our culture and traditional values close everyday. Always pray, and take the time to offer thanks to our mother. Much love ❤🙏✊
