CANNON BALL, North Dakota -- This morning, at approximately 8am central, water protectors took back unceded territory affirmed in the 1851 Treaty of Ft. Laramie as sovereign land under the control of the Oceti Sakowin, erecting a frontline camp of several structures and tipis on Dakota Access property, just east of ND state highway 1806. This new established camp is 2.5 miles north of the Cannon Ball River, directly on the proposed path of the Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL). This site is directly across the road from where DAPL security dogs attacked water protectors on September 3rd.

(Sunday 1:00 pm) Approximately four hundred (400) of our people have blocked Highway 1806 at Standing Rock. This is almost the entire encampment. They've used their vehicles and are gathering (Our people). The police are starting to make arrests.

Cell reception has always been spotty there. So, someone will be uploading videos soon.

Those who are near are asked to gather for another non-violent demonstration tomorrow, Monday. Expect to get pepper spray used on you. Do not resist. Expect to go to jail. Do not resist.

If your heart and mind are set on violence, then stay home, this is a non-violent protest. My Elders have spoken. Respect their, our, wishes.

(Sunday 12:30 pm) DAPL amassed behind hill with assault riffles. They came at us on ATVs and took one. There are behind us behind the hill, police in front. SUVs, ATMs, humvees armoured vehicles. On Saturday, there were 126 arrests, including two juveniles, and on Sunday, one arrest. The total arrested so far: 269.

At 5:30 a.m. all the campers were called upon, and I don't often rush to the main fire so early in the morning. I was drawn to the passion of the speaker and recorded audio, some of it I transcribed here: "Everybody in camp needs to wake up and rise up.
We need every able body to come and stand with us today. They (DAPL) want to say they have eminent domain, they want to say the have right to poison us and our children.
Today we're going to take back our land, we're here to stand up for the rights of those who aren't here yet, those ones that are unborn.
We're the warriors that were sent here by the spirits to stand up, our warrior spirit brought us here together united, our unity is our strength, our prayer is our power, we need the camp, every single camp to rise up and come be a part of this today, we're going to stand and take back our land today.
We're going to control and protect it." 
The people marched to Sacred Ground Camp, which is ground zero of the pipeline route and have just crossed over the barbwire fence to set up teepees and a trailer, adding bodies and expanding the camp at Sacred Ground.

Yesterday a total of 83 water protectors were arrested, today everyone marched to the front lines where the black snakes lies, the head has just about reached our sacred water and will be trying to cross... In the early morning of October 22nd 2016, Water Protectors left the encampment to walk to DAPL work site #127, off highway 1806. We walked to the work site where our comrades locked themselves down to equipment to prevent any more work being done on the Black Snake. They took action because the Black Snake must not be built, the risk is too high and a devastating spill is an inevitability, we went because we too recognize our duty to take action. We went because we have had enough of Energy Transfer Partners and this pipeline, and so have all of us here at Oceti Sakowin, we have had enough of the heavy handed terrorism so casually deployed by Kyle Kerchmeier of the Morton County Sheriffs, DAPL Private Security G4S, and the National Guard.

Over 140+ Water Protectors were chased down by riot police, pepper sprayed, beaten with batons, and kettled in. The police made the mass arrests at this site, the charges were Criminal Trespass, and Engaging in a riot. The First wave of innocent Protectors were in court today and all pled not guilty, they are awaiting trial at this time.

DAPL is in direct violation UNDRIP on Sacred Sites and as well as in violation of all Indigenous Laws anywhere worldwide. To desecrate the bodies of our Ancestors is an abomination, yet somehow the illegal and corrupt Government and corporations give themselves permission to take these actions in the name of genocide and land theft. They work together and promote a capitalist lifestyle that is in direct opposition to natural law, they are rooted in profits and have no sense of the destruction to not only land and water but also to Indigenous Peoples lives they leave in their wake. They have no jurisdiction or permission from the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe to build this pipeline, and it is not only our right and our duty to protect the Ancestors it is our responsibility to the future generations to take action to uphold the People’s right to say NO.

The future of the planet depends on what Indigenous Land Defenders and Water Protectors do NOW, we cannot afford to sell the future of the entire planet for momentary and monetary greed. They are unleashing a violent fascist police state on the people in a bid to make the most money the fastest, leaving our lands and water poisoned. We recognize that we the People acting in Unity and Prayer will stop this pipeline, and we are acting accordingly.

Message from water protector: "Sitting at the hospital in Fort Yates because today at the action the police maced, and hit innocent people with their batons. Our fellow youth council members were hit with a baton multiple times because they tried to protect the children. One of us got arrested and another is in the hospital. This is what they are doing to us. Police brutality at its finest people. We are unarmed. We are peaceful & prayerful. Come stand with standing rock. Pray for us please!"

Water protectors were pepper sprayed and thrown to the ground by police. About 200 water protectors carried out a prayer walk on Saturday morning, where one lock down was underway at sunrise.

The arrests include Lorenzo, Unicorn Riot live streamer. This makes the fifth Unicorn Riot live streamer arrested. The location is three miles west of 1806. Hwy 1806 closed in both directions Saturday morning.

I have called the jail for details and when she will appear for bail. They told me to call back tonight, I will report she was less than helpful and you could hear a lot of loud background noise when I reached the jail by phone.
It has also been reported that Sasheen & Crow have also been arrested, however I cannot confirm that as of yet. I will try when I call back tonight.

Water Protectors’ Prayer Walk Confronts DAPL Construction near Lake Oahe

Morton County, ND – Early on Saturday, October 22nd, water protectors from the camps near the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation set out on foot to confront construction that threatens to destroy more sacred burial sites.

Dakota Access has continued with construction despite the September 9 request from the federal government to suspend construction within 20 miles east and west of Lake Oahe. On Saturday morning dozens of riot police were guarding the construction site, which is about five miles away from the encampments. Unicorn Riot was on the ground providing live streaming coverage today.

Federal Judge Refuses to Protect Burial Places -- TRO granted in part Sept. 6, 2016

Standing Rock Chairman David Archambault said, "Today's denial of a temporary restraining order against Dakota Access Pipeline west of Lake Oahe puts my people's sacred places at further risk of ruin and desecration.We are disappointed that the U.S. District Court's decision does not prevent DAPL from destroying our sacred sites as we await a ruling on our original motion to stop construction of the pipeline."

CANNON BALL, North Dakota -- Standing Rock Chairman Dave Archambault said he is disappointed that a federal judge in Washington failed to protect burial places today.
"We're disappointed at the decision," Chairman Archambault said after a federal judge failed to grant a temporary restraining order where burial places and sacred places have been identified.
"We know there are sacred sites."
Chairman Archambault said the federal judge's ruling puts the burial places and sacred places at risk of more destruction by Dakota Access Pipeline.
The court documents reveal that the area bulldozed, and now vulnerable to more destruction, was one of the most significant discoveries in North Dakota in years.
The site holds an "extraordinary concentration of graves, including burials of important chiefs" directly in and adjacent to the pipeline's route.
Red Warrior Camp said, "There was absolutely no victory in the courtroom today. The judge stopped construction on the east side of the Missouri River for 20 miles. "Well, we have never even had any actions on the east side of the Missouri, and all that east of the Missouri construction is mostly done."
"The judge allowed DAPL to continue construction where we are at, destroying sacred sites west of 1806 as of today. That is why water protectors went there to shut down construction. We honor them. It's very simple."
"There are people who want to witness history, not really caring if the pipeline is built. Then there is this whole other movement of people who traveled thousands of miles to actually make history, by stopping this pipeline by any non-violent means necessary."
"Why did we come here? The water called us together. Now, the damage they've done to the sacred sites cannot be undone."
"Stay unarmed and non-violent, but let's stay together and stop this pipeline!" Red Warrior Camp said.
AP reports, "U.S. District Judge James Boasberg said Tuesday that work will temporarily stop between State Highway 1806 and 20 miles east of Lake Oahe, but that work will continue west of the highway because he believes the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers lacks jurisdiction on private land."
On Saturday, Dakota Access Pipeline bulldozers tore into the earth of a major sacred site where cultural items and burials are located on the west side of Lake Oahe, which Judge Boasberg refused to protect today.
Judge Boasberg, it turns out, is also a judge on the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court.
Native Americans protecting the burial place were attacked by Dakota Access Pipeline security and attack dogs on Saturday. Six people, defending burial places were bitten by vicious dogs, dozens were pepper sprayed, and some were assaulted by DAPL private security and construction workers.
Afterwards, the Morton Co. Sheriff's Office released a statement of false accusations, accusing the protectors of violence. In doing so, the Sheriff's office exposed the corruption in law enforcement in North Dakota, which is protecting the energy industry, and facilitating the destruction of Mother Earth, in violation of the ethics of their offices.
Chairman Archambault said today that the pipeline company provoked the water protectors on Saturday.
Mainstream media, who have refused to be present to cover the news, published and broadcast the lies of the Morton Co. Sheriff's office on Saturday.
Once again, the victims were victimized first by law enforcement and, then by the media which refuses to be present and ascertain the facts.

CANNON BALL, North Dakota -- The grassroots live radio station, Standing Rock's Spirit Resistance Radio began broadcasting live on Monday morning after a satellite was installed on Sunday. Thousands of Native Americans have gathered to protect the Missouri River from an underwater crude oil pipeline, the Dakota Access Pipeline, which threatens their water supply.

The station was already live in camp at 87.9 FM.

Before the satellite was installed, Govinda Dalton of Earthcycles, producer, was driving the audios out of camp. The audios were then posted on Censored News, due to the lack of Internet service in camp.

A delegation of Apache and Dine’ (Navajo) youths were among those interviewed on Spirit Resistance Radio. Naelyn Pike, Apache, described how Arizona Sen. John McCain sold out the Apaches by giving Resolution Copper their sacred place of Oak Flat in Arizona. McCain put the land exchange in the defense spending bill to avoid public detection and outcry at the time.

Spirit Resistance Radio interviewed Lakota elders and youths, along with young entrepreneurs from Rosebud who are beekeepers selling their honey, and those whose lives are being transformed by being at the camp.

“It is no longer a camp, it is a village,” said Govinda Dalton, producer, who has been broadcasting Indigenous news and struggles as a volunteer for more than a decade on Earthcycles.

Dennis Banks, co-founder of the American Indian Movement, and attorneys have been interviewed on Spirit Resistance Radio.

The issues range from the Rights of Nature, with roots in Bolivia and Ecuador, to a series recorded around the campfire at night. This includes Lakota elders speaking on healing the trauma of boarding schools with ceremonies.

Tlingit water and medicine songs are included in the radio programs, which began with an interview with Waniya Locke, Lakota mother and teacher. Michelle Cook, Dine’, on the legal team, describes her personal journey here.

Native American water defenders speak passionately on protecting the Missouri River for future generations.

Radio stations across the country are now requesting to rebroadcast the shows. The first was in Tampa, Florida.

Two Worlds Indigenous Radio, on WMNF community radio station in Tampa is broadcasting Standing Rock Spirit Resistance Radio. Mekasi Camp Horinek's interview, describing the first days of the blockade by Camp of the Sacred Stones, was the first.

Truckloads of hundreds of pounds of buffalo meat and pallets of drinking water are now arriving at the camp, with trucks arriving from the Crow Nation, Cheyenne Arapaho Nation, and Cherokee Nation.
