Nationwide Forest Service Protests for San Francisco Peaks Protection

We hope you can help organize a demo at the Regional Forest Service office in your area. Please let us know. We may have other supporters in your area and can connect you.

NATION-WIDE Protests Planned at Forest Service Headquarters to Halt Sacred Site Desecration on the San Francisco Peaks
San Francisco Peaks clearcutting 2011/Protect the Peaks

Press statement

Greetings friends,
This is a call to see if anyone can organize protests at any of the 10 regional Forest Service Headquarters, including the main office in DC!
Even a few people holding banners outside FS offices would greatly help us put necessary national pressure on the Forest Service regarding the Holy San Francisco Peaks crisis, i.e. current clear-cutting and pipe-line construction in conjunction with Snowbowl ski resort's expansion and plans to make snow with treated wastewater.
It is also important to note that some of the regional foresters have good working relationships with Indigenous Nations and so please consider this when organizing.

Folks in the Flagstaff area have been very busy as Im sure you've heard. ( If you haven't heard, check out truesnow.org and www.IndigenousAction.org) Not only have 26 arrests been made so far in response to out efforts to stop desecration and eco-cide of the Peaks, but harassment and bogus citations are given to Peaks campers by USFS agents on a daily basis.

The goals of the protests are to:
1. To call for an immediate halt to desecration of the Holy San Francisco Peaks.
2. Call for the USDA to revoke the Special Use Permit for Arizona Snowbowl for greater public interest.
3. Draw attention and elicit comments for the U.S. Forest Service draft report (http://www.fs.fed.us/spf/tribalrelations/sacredsites) outlining its policies and procedures for protecting Sacred Sites.
4. Demonstrate nationwide support for protection of the Peaks and all Sacred Places!

We can provide a template news release for media contacts in your area.
We can also provide banner templates and tips (or send banners depending on the need).
Below is a sample call out from the already planned Albuquerque, NM protest.

Please email me at indigenousaction@gmail.com or protectpeaks@gmail.com if you can help organize a demonstration.
Please forward to your contacts who maybe able to help as well.

PROTECT SACRED SITES! DEFEND HUMAN RIGHTS!
PROTECT THE PEAKS PROTEST

When: Thursday, Aug 25th - All day 9am to 5pm.

Where: Southwestern Regional Forester Office
333 Broadway SE, Albuquerque, NM.
Why: Since May 25, 2011, the owners of Arizona Snowbowl, with the support of the U.S. Forest Service and the Flagstaff City Council, have laid over five miles of a 14.8 mile wastewater pipeline and have clearcut over 40 acres of rare alpine forest on the Holy San Francisco Peaks in Northern, AZ.
The Peaks are Holy to more than 13 Indigenous Nations.
They are a place of worship, a place where deities reside, a place where offerings are made, where herbs are gathered, where emergence has occurred, and a location where other sacred religious practices take place .
The USDA, the agency in charge of the Forest Service, has been holding hearings on protection of sacred places due in part to the Peaks controversy.
Urge the Forest Service's Regional Forester and USDA to immediately halt all Snowbowl development on the San Francisco Peaks!

The Forest Service and USDA can stop this desecration and eco-cide!

Hacktivists release data on US/Mexico border defense contractor

Disturbing biography on the vice president of Vanguard: Richard Garcia worked first for the Dallas police department for five years and then the FBI in Los Angeles for 25 years, before going to work for Shell Oil. Next, he joined Vanguard Defense, the company now profiteering with unmanned helicopters with weapons.
In one e-mail, the Parma, Ohio, police department asks about receiving a grenade launcher and a 12-guage shotgun.

# ANTISEC LEAKS PRIVATE DOCUMENTS FROM MILITARY CONTRACTER VANGUARDDEFENSE.COM #
################################################################################

For #FuckFBIFriday, we are releasing 1GB of private emails and documents belonging to Vanguard Defense Industries(VDI), a defense contractor that sells arms to law enforcement, military, and private corporations. The emails belong to Senior Vice President of VDI Richard T. Garcia, who has previously worked as Assistant Director to the Los Angeles FBI office as well as the Global Security Manager for Shell Oil Corporation. This leak contains internal meeting notes and contracts, schematics, non-disclosure agreements, personal information about other VDI employees, and several dozen "counter-terrorism" documents classified as "law enforcement sensitive" and "for official use only".

Vanguard Defense Industries manufactures unmanned "ShadowHawk" drones which cost $640,000 and are equipped with grenade launchers and shotguns. ShadowHawks are
currently in use by law enforcement, military, and private corporations
deploying them in the US, the Horn of Africa, Panama, Columbia, and US-Mexico
border patrol operations. These emails contain contracts, schematics,
non-disclosure agreements, and more. Additionally we found evidence of a Merrill
Lynch wealth management advisor giving private advance notice to Garcia about
upcoming S&P US credit rating downgrades.

Richard T. Garcia is also an executive board member of InfraGard, a sinister
alliance of law enforcement, military, and private security contractors
dedicated to protecting the infrastructure of the very systems we aim to
destroy. It is our pleasure to make a mockery of InfraGard for the third time,
once again dumping their internal meeting notes, membership rosters, and other
private business matters.

Within the booty you may find lots of shiny things as we did not have time to
follow up on all the data. Safe to say, that despite previous disclosure in the
media (http://bit.ly/pyYePT), Mr. Garcia did not bother to change any of his
many many passwords found in his spool at the time of this release. So here's
also a shoutout to all Lulz Lizards still following our mischiefs: Have fun with
the data of Mr. Garcia, former Assistant Director to the L.A. FBI office who now
sells his cybersecurity "skills" to the Military and Government for brazen
amounts of money.

We are doing this not only to cause embarrassment and disruption to Vanguard
Defense Industries, but to send a strong message to the hacker community. White
hat sellouts, law enforcement collaborators, and military contractors beware:
we're coming for your mail spools, bash history files, and confidential
documents.

Can't stop, won't stop.

WASHINGTON -- Climate scientists will join Native Americans and Hollywood actors for civil disobedience in Washington DC, to send a message to President Obama to halt the dirty Keystone XL Pipeline from Canada to the Gulf Coast.
Already the Alberta tar sands are destroying the homelands of First Nations.
Two weeks of civil disobedience begins Saturday at the White House.

In today's London Guardian, climate scientist Jason Box says oil sands are a moral issue. He feels compelled to address at Keystone XL pipeline protests:

During the recent Protecting Mother Earth Gathering on the land of the Mandan, Hidatsa and Arikara in North Dakota, Clayton Thomas Muller, Cree, urged Indigenous Peoples to join the protest. Muller described the dirty oil extraction and effects on the environment, as well as skyrocketing living costs for locals, both results of the dirtiest oil industry on the planet.
