The University of Nevada in Las Vegas is taking the state lead in a unique, major national climate education initiative called Solve Climate By 2030 organized by the Bard Center for Environmental Policy. As Nevada’s coordinator of this virtual event and UNLV Student Sustainability Council Grad Representative, I’ll like to invite you to attend this national dialog.
COVID-19 has shown how fragile our health and economic systems are to extreme events. Our scientists have also told us clearly that, unchecked, climate change will turn our lives into a series of unending extreme events: floods, droughts, rising seas, pests and disease, more extreme storms and hurricanes, leaving hundreds of millions of people homeless and on the move.
Details: On Tuesday, April 7, UNLV will be one of the 52 universities, one in every state of the country, focused on ambitious but feasible state and local solutions to help solve climate by 2030. On that date, we’ll find the three big things that need doing in your state if we really aim to stop climate change.

WINDOW ROCK, Ariz. — According to the Navajo Department of Health and Navajo Area Indian Health Service, in coordination with the Navajo Epidemiology Center, the number of positive tests for COVID-19 has reached a total of 148 for the Navajo Nation as of Monday. In addition, there are now a total of five confirmed deaths related to COVID-19.
The 148 cases include the following counties:
Navajo County, AZ: 69
Apache County, AZ: 16 *changed due to clarification of one individual’s residency
Coconino County, AZ: 32
McKinley County, NM: 9
San Juan County, NM: 15
Cibola County, NM: 1
San Juan County, UT: 6
On Monday, Navajo Nation President Jonathan Nez and Vice President Myron Lizer met with health care officials and emergency responders who are working to fully establish a federal medical station to help fight the spread of COVID-19 in the community of Chinle, Ariz.
On Sunday, President Nez and Vice President Lizer spoke with the Federal Emergency Management Agency - Region 9 Administrator Robert J. Fenton to coordinate the mobilization of federal personnel to deliver much-needed equipment including 58 beds, blankets, personal protective equipment, and other essential items at the Chinle Community Center. Chinle Unified School District Superintendent Quincy Natay and others were instrumental in making the facility available for use.
“We are thankful to FEMA and Mr. Natay for the assistance, but we also recognize that it’s not enough. In speaking with the health care experts, the supplies that were delivered won’t last a full week, but we’re continuing to work hard every day to bring more and more resources. The Navajo Nation is also stepping up and using our own funds from the $4 million appropriation that was approved recently,” said President Nez.

ROAD BLOCKS IN PLACE AS CURFEW TAKES EFFECT 03.30.20
The Navajo Police Department began holding road blocks this evening, as the Navajo Nation-wide curfew took effect at 8:00 p.m. President Jonathan Nez and Vice President Myron Lizer joined Police Chief Phillip B. Francisco as they handed out COVID-19 pamphlets and urged drivers to return home safely and comply with the curfew. The curfew order is in effect daily from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Navajo Police are also checking for proof of essential work status for drivers and occupants. As a reminder, the curfew does not apply to essential employees reporting to or from duty, with official identification and/or a letter of designation from their essential business employer on official letterhead which includes a contact for verification.
President Nez and Vice President Lizer thank everyone who is following the curfew order. Tonight, they received reports of very low traffic flow in several communities on the Navajo Nation — this is good news! Sacred Fire was lit in our community on Thursday, March 16th, 2020 and burned for people to offer tobacco in prayer over 4 days and 4 nights. Ceremonial Elders, as their ancestors did in difficult times, gathered in a ceremony each day and night to get direction from the Spiritual Realm on how to deal with COVID-19 virus. The language of Spirit (ceremony) tells us that a Messenger has come, a dark Messenger whose relatives are (to name a few): hatred among men (humans), all that which clouds the mind such as alcohol, drugs and substance abuse; violence and human conflict of all forms, and, most importantly, the disregard for Mother Earth as a living being. The Messenger is relentless, and no one is immune. It will continue to spread, and it will take many innocents lives. The pandemic cannot be cured by medicine alone; it must be combined with good deeds, prayer, and humanity’s collective commitment to change its ways, most of all, its dedication to minimizing the damage it does to the Earth. The pollution of air and water must be addressed. It is by doing these things that a cure will come and humanity will have a better chance of surviving what’s yet to come. Key Messages from the Ceremonies: Respect for Mother Earth and all Beings in Nature Mother Earth must be respected and honoured as a living being that she is, and all beings in Nature honoured and left alone in their natural habitat. Too many are kept in captivity (zoos, labs) where their suffering is immeasurable. Even those in their own natural habitat, they suffer because of what Man has done to Mother Earth. They lose their food, medicines, and other essentials they need to bring up their offspring. Their suffering does not allow their energy to flow freely with the rhythm of the Cosmos. As such, their restricted-energy propagates sickness in the world. Their energy must be allowed to resonate freely throughout the Universe as it should for healing to come to the world. Respect for Indigenous Peoples Indigenous peoples have been oppressed all too long and their voices not heard. During this dark period, all persons will experience what oppression feels like, the inability to access your essential needs, the land, medicine, what you love most, and what you need to be happy. From this experience, and with the will to honour all Indigenous peoples of the world, brighter light will shine upon the Earth for the betterment of humanity. With regard to the current pandemic, the message for Indigenous peoples themselves is to use your traditional medicines that come from your homeland, sing your song and dance for life in your own way. Despite the suffering that you experienced in the past and in the present, the Great Spirit has never left you. As the Language of Spirit (ceremony) says, the Great Spirit has eyes on you from all Creation. His Spirit is present in his Creation, in the Sun, the Moon, the Stars, the wind, the rain. He is closer to you than the air that you breathe. Acknowledge him.
Respect for Women Why are men more susceptible to the coronavirus? It has been said that the woman is the only Force in the Universe that can channel the human soul from the Spiritual Realm. She must be respected and honoured as such. In the world, women (even little girls) are abused, violated, sold for profit. Many are victims of human trafficking which goes against the Law that governs the Universe. Their suffering emits negative energy to the world that brings sickness. This must change. A woman must be honoured always as a bearer of life, life-giver and nurturer. Be mindful of this Truth always: Without a woman, none of us would have life, today. Original Teachings At the beginning of time, like all other beings in the natural world, all nations of the world were given what our Elders call the “Original Teachings”, that if followed would help create and maintain balance and harmony in the world at all times. If heeded, those fully developed spiritually would -- at the end of their Earth journey - be able to enter the Spirit World without the pains of physical death, as do all other species in Nature. To fully restore global balance and harmony, all nations must return to their roots on the Tree of Life and seek this knowledge. If we do not do this, we will be wiped out from the face of the earth and many souls may be lost. Humanity must evolve To work closely with the Great Spirit at all times, humanity must evolve in line with the Law that governs the Universe. For this to happen, all faiths in the world must evolve spiritually and in their own way. It’s only through deep spiritual knowledge and understanding that humans can fully realize that we are not above, but equal to, all Creation. This journey must begin now if we are to survive. The current coronavirus is not Divine retribution. It is for all of us to realize that humanity has greatly violated the Natural Law. This law dictates that the Sun will rise in the East and set in the West until the end of time. No one person or a collectivity can change that. He sees his people suffering, sick, hysterical and crazy as they die. The antibodies they have are for the viruses and diseases they brought here to annihilate us. They did not start the COVID19 virus so they have no antibodies. They still think they are stronger than nature. That’s their biggest mistake. Trump’s remarks are bravado and auto suggestions that the old people should volunteer to die to save the stock market, and others might commit suicide for the team.
The day our voice was taken was the day we supposedly died. They always kept count of how many of us died and how many still exist. We hid. They hid the truth. They still try to silence us. The pendulum is swinging away from them. They scream for us to listen to them. “Here’s some money for the arts, for films, for shows, for pow wows, for education, for books and so on. Tell us more about yourselves so we can plan the next phase of the genocide.” The rulers want to put us to sleep by throwing money and potions at us.
Their band councils are whores. They are cana’jon, squatters. The great peace shall deal with our traitors. They will fall into their own traps that they set for us.
The truth is our major weapon. Their lies about us were drummed into our heads. Now they are experiencing their own false made-up memories. The rulers hypnotize the people using promises, money and the American Dream. Their hands are still bloody from the hacking of our people. They murdered us and gave us small pox infested blankets to kill us. Then they made laws to decriminalized their actions. It is still immoral, wrong and evil to depopulate people. They wanted free reign to rape and plunder our mother.
When will their thirst for our blood be quenched? They don’t want to see their true desires revealed in the light of day. Our existence disturbs them. They created psychologists, neurologists, psychiatrists, counsellors, drugs and other diversions to cover and numb their hysteria.
The Minister of Indian Affairs was sent among us to mesmerized us. He hypnotized some with, “Follow me”. “Don’t be afraid”. “I will stop the madness. It will never happen again”. “Trust me”. The rulers want him to speak to us in Mohawk to pacify us so they can dissect us some more. Should they admit what they are doing, they would have hysterical seizures. They will run for their drugs and fire water to temporarily blind them. When it wears off, they get more. Liquor stores are not closed during this ongoing pandemic for a reason. Nothing makes them wake up and respect nature.

The rulers cannot defeat the virus that has come for them. It has brought them to their knees. If they could, there would have been no more viruses. They are frustrated at their failures. They’ve stockpiled massive weapons of mass destruction on how to annihilate people, instead of using their energy to save people. Even life saving masks and ventiliators are withheld unless the capitalists get the right price. This is leading to mass hysteria.
