Standing Rock water protector Steve Martinez has been released after more than 60 days behind bars for refusing to give testimony to a federal grand jury. Martinez was summoned as a witness in the case of Sophia Wilansky, a water protector whose arm was severely wounded during a police crackdown on anti-pipeline protests in 2016. Prosecutors were attempting to shift blame for Wilansky’s injuries from law enforcement to water protectors. The campaign to free Steve Martinez blasted the use of grand juries as a “divisive and cruel tool of repression.”

Thanks to Govinda Dalton, Censored News was able to provide live coverage of tribal police creating a roadblock to prevent Lakota women and children on the NO DAPL Walk from entering the tribal compound of the Mandan, Hidatsa, and Arikara Nation in New Town, North Dakota.

The solidarity walkers were just over 20 Lakotas, mostly women, and young children, from Standing Rock and Cheyenne River, along with local tribal members on April 8.

PAGE, Arizona – Loren Reed, a 26-year-old Diné (Navajo) man, is set for trial on May 4, 2021 for a trumped-up federal charge of "Threats to Damage and Destroy a Building by Means of Fire" after he engaged in a heated debate over Black Lives Matter protest tactics[1] in a private Facebook chat group created to organize a local police brutality protest.

Reed has been held in federal pretrial detention without bail for ten months after a prior high school acquaintance reported him to the police for a different satirical social media post about planning a protest or 'riot' at the courthouse that never actually happened.

SAN CARLOS APACHE NATION -- San Carlos Apache Tribal Chairman Terry Rambler said he strongly supports Congressional testimony provided today by tribal leaders to protect the sacred western Apache site Chí’chil Biłdagoteel, also known as Oak Flat, from destruction by the proposed Resolution Copper Mine.

“Today’s testimony clearly demonstrates that it is not only the San Carlos Apache Tribe opposed to this horrific plan that would destroy a location that is the heart of our cultural and spiritual beliefs, but those tribal nations from across Arizona and the U.S. are united in stopping this mine,” Rambler said.
