American Indian Movement's stance on Libya: Moments in history

American Indian Movement's stance on Libya: Moments in history

Think outside the box today, moments in history
Vernon Bellecourt, AIM

In the media's censored files in the United States are the facts that the American Indian Movement, and other Native Americans, maintained a relationship with Libya. For the history books, here are quotes by American Indians and Gaddafi. In the future, history books will be written to include the real agenda of the United States around the world, the role of American Indians, and the American Indian Movement as it took action and expose truth.

American Indian delegations visited Libya and Venezuela

An American Indian delegation was among the first to arrive in Libya to secure goodwill trade negotiations with the country following the lifting of U.S. travel restrictions and trade sanctions in 2005.
The delegation initiated efforts to establish an arts and cultural exchange and open dialogue for international AIDS awareness and treatment.
An American Indian delegation also traveled to Venezuela and urged support from Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez.
Vernon Bellecourt of the American Indian Movement became ill in Venezuela and soon after passed to the Spirit World.
Vernon Bellecourt was honored for his efforts.

"Participants in the Seminar and Award Ceremony upon the occasion of the Country of Libya bestowing upon the American Indian Communities the Gaddafi Prize in Human Rights in the Spring of 1991. Individuals included in the program were: Kwame Toure (A.K.A. Stokely Carmichael) - RIP - the veteran Civil Rights leader in the United States, and a Pan African Revolutionary; Vernon Bellecourt - RIP - of the American Indian Movement and The United Indian Movement: Hans Kochler Ph.D Professor at the University of Austria and Member of the Organization of Progress and Professor Silas Cerqueira of the University of Portugal and Member of the Board of the Gaddafi Prize Committee."

"... While Clyde focused on the home front, Vernon became a leader of AIM's work abroad, meeting with controversial leaders such as Nicaragua's Daniel Ortega, Libya's Moammar Gadhafi and Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat. As recently as four weeks ago, he was in Venezuela to talk with President Hugo Chavez about his program for providing heating assistance to American Indian tribes."

War in Libya

March 30, 2011
The American Indian Movement supports the statement A-APRP Statement from the All African Peoples Revolutionary Party (GC) in regard to Libya, and the foundation that leaders, Kwame Ture of the A-APRP, and Vernon Bellecourt of the American Indian Movement solidified in regard to supporting actions against Africa, which includes Libya.

Delegates of the American Indian Movement, and the International Indian Treaty Council visited Libya on several occasions taking part in symposiums organized by Libyan revolutionary committees. In 1986 we participated along with the A-APRP (All African Peoples Revolutionary Party) in traveling to Libya in opposition to President Reagan's travel ban. We are opposed to the military aggression by the United States against a sovereign country. Bombs are indiscriminate, and we have yet to hear the atrocities that these bombs have caused on the civilian population in Libya.

The United States along with partner countries, France, Italy, Germany, and Great Britain do not possess the moral high ground to act as defenders of human rights. This isn’t so much about defending human rights as it is defending economic interests, and strategic interests. President Obama said in his speech on March 28th that the bombing of Libya “prevented a potential massacre.” As victims of violence, U.S. aggression on our lands, chemical warfare, theft of our natural resources at the hands of the colonial U.S. government, we don’t know if the U.S. has really prevented anything in Libya.

The bombing of Libya must stop. Libya and its leader Moammar Ghaddafi or "the Leader" as many people in Libya call him, is a sovereign nation in which the U.S. has no business interfering in, or using its bogus excuse of saving civilians, when the real reason for bombing Libya and trying to kill its leader is to obtain its rich oil rights and revenues, and continue the operations of U.S. and European oil companies in Libya. If we continue on this blind need for high octane energy, we will see more destruction of the earth, and its inhabitants.

Ghaddafi's crime is not of being a ruthless dictator, as the U.S. has successfully convinced the world of, but of openly denouncing imperialism by Europe and the U.S. when he successfully took back his country from a ruthless monarchy in 1969, and kicked out all of the European and U.S. military, and took over his country’s oil resources and revenues. He has never backed down from his hatred of imperialism.

The excuse for starting a war in Iraq was based on lies and media manipulation. Ghaddafi is no more a dictator than George W. Bush. Millions of civilians were killed and murdered during the Iraq invasion, where was the outcry? What about Abu-Graib, water boarding, Guantanamo Bay, the Patriot Act, these acts surly are not acts of a caring democracy who wants to see peace in this world. What we have in the United States is not a democracy but a corporatocracy, the U.S. is not led by the people, but by rich corporations in which its leaders manipulate, pay and buy votes in Congress in order for their companies to pay no taxes and their CEO's to get richer while the middle class is becoming extinct. Why do Americans continue to allow this country to start wars which cost trillions of dollars while domestic jobs are going overseas and our ability to work, stay in our homes and pay for medical insurance becomes impossible, and has made millions of once working middle class people become helpless, homeless and poor?

The last speech of Mu'ummar Qaddafi

" ... I did all I could to help people Understand the concept of real democracy, where people's committees ran our country. But that was never enough, as some told me, even people who had 10 room homes, new suits and furniture, were never satisfied, as selfish as they were they wanted more. They told Americans and other visitors, that they needed 'democracy' and "freedom" never realizing it was a cut throat system, where the biggest dog eats the rest, but they were enchanted with those words, never realizing that in America, there was no free medicine, no free hospitals, no free housing, no free education and no free food, except when people had to beg or go to long lines to get soup ..." http://www.jamiiforums.com/international-forum/710194-the-last-speech-of-muummar-qaddafi.html

Water rights protests: Navajo, Paiute, and Yaqui in Sonora/ Censored News

Here's the Top Most Censored Issues in Indian Country:

Theft of Indian water rights by non-Indian attorneys, Congressmen and corrupt tribal officials
This is why we need more whistleblowers: Former Sec. Interior Ken Salazar resigned after this memo was leaked, exposing the scheme to steal Navajo water rights in Congress. It wasn't the Navajo government that halted the theft -- it was the Dineh people. Non-Indian attorneys, Congressmen, and corrupt tribal officials have been in this game for a long time. The states and US are desperate for Indian water rights to keep unsustainable cities and dirty coal-fired power plants operating.
http://bsnorrell.blogspot.com/2012/11/leaked-documents-mainstream-media.html
Many Native American tribes in Arizona have already signed the so-called "water rights settlements" presented by their non-Indian attorneys. Currently, Paiutes are fighting to save water rights to Pyramid Lake in Nevada. Here's one of the rights that states and the US fear the most: Water rights guaranteed under Winter's Doctrine. It ensures water rights for future generations on Indian lands and the water mongers want those rights waived. In Sonora, Mexico, the Yaqui Traditional Authority has maintained a water rights blockade on a major highway on their land as Mexico steals their water.

Truth about cartels and the murdered and disappeared
While remembering the dead and 43 disappeared students in Guerrero, Mexico, remember that it was the US ATF (Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms) who provided the cartels with assault weapons. Project Gunrunner began in Texas in 2005, according to US documents, and continued based in Tucson with Fast and Furious and Operation Wide Receiver. There was no outcry in the US when it was people in Mexico being killed, including innocent women and children. It was only when a US Border Patrol agent was killed with one of those weapons in Arizona that there was a public outcry. Indigenous Peoples in Mexico and along the border are victims of the heavily-armed cartels. The so-called drug war is just one more of the United States wars created with the aid of spin and fabricated news reports. Meanwhile, the US Border Patrol agents continue to be arrested for smuggling drugs, and continue to shoot through the border and kill citizens of Mexico.
Read more about the United States' role in weapons and drug running at www.narconews.com

Coal-fired pollution on Navajo Nation
With President Obama's announcement in China that the US will cut power plant emissions, the question remains: Will the Navajo Nation take action? The coal-fired Navajo Generating Station is one of the top polluters in the world. Will the Navajo Times cover this issue? The power plant uses coal that Peabody Coal rips from Black Mesa in Arizona. Peabody Coal's genocidal scheme to remove Navajos from Black Mesa is the real motivation for the so-called Navajo Hopi Land Dispute. The dirty power plant provides electricity primarily to southern Arizona, and the cities of Phoenix and Tucson. Another dirty coal-fired power plant on the Navajo Nation is the Four Corners Power Plant in New Mexico.

Indian country news infested with plagiarizers and profiteers
National Indian country news is dominated by plagiarizers and profiteers. The victims -- besides those who do the original work and pay the expenses themselves -- are the readers. For years, Indian Country Today armchair reporters have been staying home and plagiarizing. When they don't want you to know who is doing the plagiarizing, they put as the byline at the top "ICTMN staff."
Further, the owners of indianz.com received a multi-million dollar contract from the US for domestic and international spying this year, with an office at the US Pentagon. What this means for readers is this: There aren't really reporters present on news stories and reporting the facts. Just ask those reporters if they have been present on the news stories they pretend to be covering.

Homeland Security gives US border security contract to Israeli firm, includes US spy towers on Tohono O'odham land
Homeland Security gave the border security contract this year to the Israeli defense corporation Elbit Systems, responsible for Apartheid security on the Palestine border. The contract includes the US spy towers on sovereign Tohono O'odham land. See Censored News exclusive coverage of those spy towers on O'odham land: Tohono O'odham government approves 15th spy tower, more land for US Border Patrol: http://bsnorrell.blogspot.com/2013/07/tohono-oodham-council-approves-15th-us.html

Bill Gates profiteering from private prisons
The power and money mongers are profiteering from the imprisonment of migrants, American Indians and other people of color in private prisons. The US system fills these prisons with the aid of the media hysteria about the border, and police officers targeting people of color.
Both GEO and CCA are prison for profit vulture corporations. Bill Gates is among the top investors in GEO and G4S.
Earlier, the notorious Wackenhut split into GEO, and Wackenhut Transportation -- for maximum profiteering from misery. Wackenhut Transportation was then bought by G4S, an international prison for profit contractor. Now, G4S has contracts for detained migrant transportation on the Arizona border.
Arizona and Texas are two states where prisons-for-profit vultures are making millions, while the rapes, tortures and murders increase.

Boarding School Tribunal
Reporters in Indian country were a no-show for coverage of the Boarding School Tribunal in Green Bay, Wisconsin in October. See the original series by Censored News, with videos by Govinda at Earthcycles. Yes, we were there. http://www.bsnorrell.blogspot.com/2014/10/day-3-boarding-school-tribunal-watch.html

Behind closed doors, there is much more happening now, from the threat of the Keystone XL Pipeline and fracking, to drones and the militarization of US universities. There's far more truth hidden about Indian casinos and where the money really goes. That's why we need you, the grassroots public, the public, and more whistleblowers.

Ethics concerns over 'Native American Encyclopedia'

Ethics and copyright concerns over 'Native American Encyclopedia' online

Letter to the Editor
Ethics concerns over
Native American Encyclopedia
Censored News

I'm hoping you might be able to help.

I have some serious concerns about a web site called "Native American Encyclopedia" (NAE) http://nativeamericanencyclopedia.com/

1. It is pulling in an increasing amount of visitors who are seeking accurate information about Native Peoples. While the title "Native American Encyclopedia" sounds credible, the content includes information that is not culturally authentic, is inappropriate, and/or completely offensive.

2. To my findings, the NAE web site doesn't identify who's in charge. No individuals or tribal affiliations are mentioned.  Some contributors include personal links, but I've not yet found a tribal member. What is their credibility?

3. NAE content is often -- if not all -- "borrowed" from other sources, like Wikipedia, including the ambiguous and mis-representational Wolf Totem. http://nativeamericanencyclopedia.com/

4 The NAE web site is in a way that does not reflect Native culture, at least in my opinion.  It's a commercial web site with advertising, and some ads are questionable. One ad was for "Top 5 Woman Dating Sites."  How does that promote Native culture and education and values?

But two recent events have really triggered warning bells.

5. Last month, a Native journalist contacted me about NAE possibly breaking copyright rules. If memory serves right, NAE broke email communications with him, nor can he locate info about the individuals and/or group responsible for NAE.

The next search step requires a court order.

6. Yesterday, NAE posted an article shared by Amy called:
"How to Dress Like An Indian"

http://nativeamericanencyclopedia.com/how-dress-like-indian/

It was so appalling that I took screen shots of the page and the critical comments that followed.  It's a good thing I did because the page link no longer works for me. Either the content has been replaced, or I'm redirected to a page titled: "How To Play a Native American Flute." (?)

I am attaching screen shots of "How to Dress Like an Indian" to this email. Was unable to capture the entire screen in one shot -- needed three separate ones. Sorry.

Please share your thoughts.

Thank you.
Gina Boltz

Mohawk Nation News 'I am Dekanawida'

I AM DEKANAWIDA

mnnlogo1

This important story is being republished. Please post and distribute. Nia:wen.
MNN. Feb. 23, 2014/Nov. 9, 2014. Our messenger, Dekanawida, told us this story about the White, Red and Black Serpents just before he left us. Dekanawida referred to them as serpents because they slither underneath society.
"I am Dekanawida. With the statesman o the League of 5 Nation, I plant the Tree of Great Peace".
Wampum #1: “I am Dekanawida. With the statesman of the League of 5 Nation, I plant the Tree of Great Peace”.
The  white serpent is Free Masonry. In the future it will come to Great Turtle Island. “They will befriend the Onkwehonwe who have been given the task of teaching them how to follow the the Guswentha/Two Row Wampum and the Kaianerekowa, the Great Law of Peace. After seven generations of contact, the white serpent will have us squeezed so tight against his chest we can hardly breathe.”
“Then a red serpent will apear from the North. The white serpent will be startled and momentarily drop the Onkwehonwe, who will fall to the ground like a baby and crawl to the hilly country to heal. The white and red serpents will have a fierce fight that will tear open mother earth”. The red serpent is the Bavarian Illuminati. The fight they will have is World War I. “Then the white and red serpents will lay around for a while not knowing what to do after the great battle”. Dekanawida said, ” A false message disguised as a woman will be sent to the black serpent in the south, who came and took over the red and white serpents. Then all three will work together to make continual war against every nation on earth”. This is the New World Order [NATO] carrying out its plan.
Black corporate serpent dominates and then slithers away from Onkwehonwe.
Black corporate serpent dominates and then slithers away from Onkwehonwe.
The black serpent will always search worldwide and will make war with one country after another. The black serpent will always be searching to see who is next. Then only will he see the Onkwehonwe healing in the hilly country. He will say,  “I have no fight with them!”. Then a bright light many times brighter than the sun will come from the east. “The black serpent will see the light, be fearful and swim south, never again to be seen by the Onkwehonwe”. The red serpent will become fearful of the light and crawl to the north, leaving a snaily trail behind him, never to be seen again by the Onkwehonwe”. Part of the tail of the white serpent will break off and crawl to the hilly country to heal with the Onkwehonwe. The rest of the white serpent will make a feeble attempt to swim toward the light [NASA].
The serpents will all be gone. A messenger will appear. There will be peace on earth.
The serpents will all be gone. A messenger will appear. There will be peace on earth.
Dekanawida instructed, “You must go to the hilly country. When the time comes, burn tobacco, call my name and I will return. As the Kanionkehaka, people of the flint, have kept alive the Kaianerekowa, Great Law, a great messenger will emerge from them. His words will be heard by as many as the blades of grass at the same time. We are now healing. We will soon burn tobacco and call Dekanawida by name.
AS Pink Floyd advises, take a deep breath in through your nose and breathe and exhale through your mouth: Pink Floyd. “Breathe”.

Rally for Alexi Cruz, student detained in El Paso Immigration Center

Community Rallies for Alexi Cruz,
Student Wrongly Detained in El Paso Immigration Center

Alexi, who came to the U.S. at 14, is eligible for DACA

El Paso, TX, November 10, 2014— Human Rights Organizer, student and father, Alexi Cruz was wrongly detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) after his car broke down on the side of the road in Lordsburg, NM.  Alexi was racially profiled by the Sherriff there and is currently in an  ICE Detention Center in El Paso, Texas, despite being DACA eligible, and having no criminal record.  Immigrant Rights activist, Johana De Leon from Immigrant Youth Movement (SAYM) is puzzled by Alexi’s detention and states, “Alexi is eligible for DACA and as such he is not a priority for deportation. It has been routine for ICE officials to just release DACA eligible students, not detain them and try to deport them!”
Im/migrant & Indigenous Rights supporters in El Paso are calling on the community to stand in prayer and protest against this injustice.

Rally for the Release of Human Rights Activist
& DACA eligible student, Alexi Cruz.
Prayer by Danza Azteca Omecoatl
Wednesday, November, 12th @ 4pm
@ El Paso ICE Field Office, 1545 Hawkins Blvd.

Alexi, indigenous with Yaqui and Mayo roots, came to the United States from Mexico when he was just 14-years old. As transcripts show, and provided to the Department of Homeland Security, Alexi attended high-school here in the United States and is clearly eligible for discretion under DACA. According to the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals policy, issued by the Obama Administration, young people like Alexi, who came to the United States before the age of 16 are not a priority for deportation.
Alexi has always been an outspoken defender of human rights: “He’s a wonderful person, no matter where we’ve lived he’s always been out there advocating for people. In some ways he is the perfect person for this injustice to happen to, we are hoping his story reaches others who are in this same situation of detention and deportation, and that it gives them hope to keep fighting” said, Anayanse Garza, his partner of 5 years. Alexi and Anayanse have a 2-year old daughter together and are anticipating Alexi’s release from detention with community support.
RAICES, Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services, has agreed to provide Alexi Cruz with pro-bono representation.
