PORTLAND, Ore. -- The Tributary runners honoring water will reach Portland today from Warm Springs, and join the Peace and Dignity runners at the Native American Youth and Family Center, NAYA, in Portland.
During the first day of the run from Warm Springs, on Saturday, Manny Calapoo said, "Today the Tributary walk started from Warm Springs to Portland, with Mel Huey, Leo Hellon, Young Leo, Randy Boise, Jacinta Sampson, Hector Cerda, Randy Blakeley, Richard Wisebear and myself ran from Warm Springs to Frog Lake. Tomorrow we will make it into Troutdale."
Then, on Sunday, Manny said, "We're up and ready for another day of running. Yesterday was wonderful. All eight up, ran last mile together at reservation line.
"Today we will reach Troutdale, will meet up with Canoe family and camp with them," Manny said Sunday.

Jose Malvido posted this update from the Peace and Dignity Journeys on Saturday: Today, July 14, 2012 the Peace and Dignity Journeys Runners have been on the road now for two and a half months. The West Coast Group has crossed in to Oregon today and are running to Cowlitz and the Midwest Runners are running to the Red Lake Nation in Minnesota."

Peace and Dignity Journeys, northern routes 2012

This is only the northern portion of the run. There will also be runners who will begin from Tierra del Fuego, Argentina. North and south runners will meet on November 28, 2012 in Guatemala.
The northern routes will connect near Mexico City before heading south.

US ICE official at border sentenced, another assists drug cartels
The widespread corruption in US agencies at the border continues. The former intelligence chief of ICE, US Immigration and Customs Enforcement, has been sentenced for fraud. Also, in Nogales, south of Tucson, Reuters reports that a former ICE agent in Arizona was sentenced to 30 months in prison for accessing police databases and passing on sensitive information to family members with ties to Mexican drug cartels.
"Jovana Deas was accused of illegally obtaining and disseminating classified government documents while working as an ICE special agent in Nogales, Arizona, a city on the border with Mexico. She was also charged with obstruction and lying to investigators."

Drones, Raytheon and Monsanto, poisoning Indian country
In Tucson, on Tohono O'odham land near the airport, the University of Arizona coopted the Tohono O'odham Nation into a drone making venture, which O'odham human rights activists protest. As with the other most detrimental corporations in Indian country, Advanced Ceramics changes names and owners, breaking it into parts, to avoid detection and accountability. Yes, that's the same Advanced Ceramics that the Pascua Yaqui Nation earlier cancelled the contract with.
This drone maker continues to be one of the most censored news stories in Indian country, along with the Raytheon Missiles factory located on the Navajo Nation's commercial farm, Navajo Agricultural Products Industries, NAPI, near Farmington, N.M., where farm crops are grown and sold for products including potato chips.
NAPI also boasts on its website of using Monsanto genetically-modified seeds. Monsanto seeds are now being protested and burned by most Indigenous communities around the world. Among the many hazards, is the fact that genetically-modified seeds -- through cross pollination -- will destroy traditional Native seed crops. --Censored News

CHURCH ROCK, N.M. -- Today was the 32nd anniversary of the uranium tailings spill near Church Rock, N.M. Navajos and other walkers walked, and protested, six decades of the impacts from uranium mining on the Navajo Nation.

The Church Rock spill on  July 16, 1979, resulted in millions of gallons of radioactive water pouring into the north fork of the Rio Puerco after an earthen uranium tailings dam failed. Within days, contaminated tailings liquid was found 50 miles downstream in Arizona. The radioactive flow continued for decades down the Rio Puerco.

Today, new uranium mining targets the border of Navajo lands in Church Rock and threatens to poison the drinking water of Navajos. Today, marchers also protested Japan investing into corporations targeting new uranium mining on the Navajo Nation.

The New Mexico Environmental Law Center and Eastern Navajo Diné Against Uranium Mining (ENDAUM) are urging the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to revoke an ill-advised permit they gave to uranium mining company, Hydro Resources, Inc. 23 years ago.
