Chiefs, Headsmen, Elders, People of the Lakota Oyate, Relatives and Allies

Mi cante’ etan uha cante’ waste’ nape ciuzapiyelo.  As Itancan of the Black Hills Sioux Nation Treaty Council, I am calling for a Wolakota Omniciye for the Tiospaye/Bands of the Oceti Sakowin.  The gathering will be held on September 19 and 20, 2012 at the Prairie Wind Casino on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation.
The purpose of the gathering is to:
 1) present and discuss issues relevant to the governance and preservation of the Oceti Sakowin, its culture and territory;
 2)  to receive updates on the implementation of the previous resolutions of the Black Hills Sioux Nation Treaty Council;
 3) to hear of the continuing international developments led by the Black Hills Sioux Nation Treaty Council’s efforts to enforce the 1851 and 1868 Fort Laramie Treaties in international forums such as the United Nations.  This will include a discussion of the 3rd Seminar on Treaties held in Geneva this summer and attended by the Eyapaha of the Black Hills Sioux Nation Treaty Council. 
Please come to the meeting with your comments and resolutions written and ready for distribution in order to enhance the nature of our discussions.  
We strongly encourage members of the Great Plains Tribal Chairman’s Association to sponsor their Band’s Treaty Delegates to travel to this important gathering.  Meals will be provided at the Wolakota Omniciye on September 19 and 20, 2012.

It’s after lunch now, so we’re gonna follow the lead of our contractor and police friends and call it a day! But don’t believe for a second that we’re hangin’ up our hats!

Our 3^rd action has been a huge success, and we’re only going to continue standing up for our friends and neighbors by calling fraud what it is – fraud. Tar Sands-sourced diluted bitumen slurry is not crude oil. It’s an exotic, radically toxic hydrocarbon surface-mining product that we will not permit to travel across our homes and freshwater sources without a fight!

Onward with keepin our homes safe!

7 trucks with 20-25 workers showed up at the site to meet their Foreman only to be turned away. One truck with a ditch witch continued on to the easement. ALL truck plates were out of state plates including Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Pennsylvania. Local jobs anyone?

7AM – BREAKING! 3 Blockaders Locked to Equipment Halt Work at Another Keystone XL Site!

Landowner advocates lock selves to feller buncher machines in KXL easement’s path of destruction!

SALTILLO, TEXAS – September 5, 2012, 7AM – Three landowner advocates and climate justice organizers have locked themselves to feller buncher machines used for clearing large trees in the path of the Keystone XL pipeline. Today’s action has halted work on a segment of TransCanada’s illegitimate pipeline outside of Saltillo, TX. As promised, Tar Sands Blockade’s rolling campaign of nonviolent civil disobedience pushes forward.

Five blockaders total are currently risking arrest to stop work on this segment of the Keystone XL pipeline. Contractors discovered their presence early in the work day, and work at the site was called off shortly thereafter. Texas-born blockaders have united with neighbors from other states to support rural and neighboring communities threatened by the toxic pipeline’s diluted bitumen slurry.

"The Rosebud Sioux Tribe has designated $50,000 for the purpose of purchasing Pe'Sla land. By contributing to the efforts of all Sioux Tribes, we aim to purchase at least some of the tracts, if not all. Many of the Sioux Tribes continue to exist in poverty and do not have a thriving casino-based economy as the media may have portrayed. Yet, we continue to fight for what is sacred, because it matters."
This land was taken from the Sioux Tribes ILLEGALLY in violation of the Fort Laramie Treaties of 1851 and 1868.
"Although we believe our sacred places were taken illegally by the United States government, Lastrealindians, Inc. is collaborating with the Rosebud Sioux Tribe and the Great Sioux Nation (the Oceti Sakowin) to centralize fundraising to save one of our most sacred sites, Pe'Sla.
In an unprecedented, collective effort, the united Sioux Nation (the Oceti Sakowin) is attempting to buy as much of Pe'Sla as possible, to save it from destruction and ensure that future generations of Lakota, Dakota, Nakota and other Tribal Nations that consider the Black Hills holy, will continue to have access to this vital sacred site to practice their faith on its ceremonial grounds in its natural, pristine state."

In the Spirit of Crazy Horse, U.N.A. is demanding the Hearst Corporation contribute to the struggling Lakota Sioux Nation whom they have stolen land and precious Natural resources from. Professor Lehman Brightman states that the Hearst Corporation "has never tried to make amends with the Lakota Sioux Nation."
The heir to the Hearst fortune, William Randoph Hearst III, has "not given one red cent to the Sioux Indians. They could easily afford to set up a scholarship program or improve dilapidated housing on Sioux Territory." Nearly 97% of the Sioux Nation's population lives below Federal poverty levels.
The United States Government and the Hearst Corporation can be prosecuted for violations of International Law. Art. VI of The United States Constitution states, "All treaties made, or which shall be made ... shall be the Supreme Law of the Land." U.N.A. believes it is time that punitive damages be paid to the Lakota Sioux Nation for direct violation of the Fort Laramie Treaties of 1851 & 1868.
We ask that the Hearst Corporation purchase this land and RETURN it IMMEDIATELY into the hands of the Lakota people, as a part of the reparations of their illegal seizure of Native lands.
