Greetings! 

I want to take some time to thank each and every one of you for committing to do this walk and to carry prayers for me. I also want to acknowledge and thank your families for supporting you and being understanding of the time you are taking to complete this walk. I know it can be a hardship so please know that I appreciate you remembering  and doing this for me. I only ask that you keep clear minds and good thoughts as you continue this journey. 

In our stories among my people, we say that at times like this, an eagle or a hawk will visit, to see what you are doing. We as Native people know that not only are they visiting to see what you are doing, but they have been sent to collect the thoughts and prayers of the people, to carry them back to the Creator. 

At one time, we as humans, were able to communicate directly with all living things, especially the animals. Although we have lost that ability to a degree, the animal life still carries on with their responsibility, and therefore, are messengers for the Creator. Please, for me, let the message they take back to the Creator be a positive reflection, of who we are as relatives to one another. I will send my good thoughts with you at this time.

Longest Walk Schedule for St. Louis.
Fri - Aug 30 - Black Bear Bakery Presentation- 4ish- 2639 Cherokee St. St. Louis
Followed by a Sunset Ceremony at Monk's Mound
Sat. Aug 31 - Rest Day -
Sun. Sept 1 - Walkers will be in a private ceremony.
Mon Sept 2 - The Walk begins at Cahokia Mound Entrance Sign at 9 am, we will start the walk from there, cross the river and stop at the arch, then onward thru St.Louis.
This walk is open to all who would like to join.

The Walkers have moved to Babler State Park on the Missouri side off Hwy 109. They plan on being there until Wed. As I mentioned before the heat is deadly out here, so they are on a much needed rest. Horseshoe Lake camp site was an open field with no shade and the pavilion was loaded with wasp nests, with no showers. So they moved over to Missouri, (because Mo. parks rock.)

On behalf of the Oglala Commemoration and Leonard Peltier, a statement from Leonard was read and the walkers were presented with a Free Peltier Flag to carry on their journey.

Salutations !
Je veux prendre le temps de vous remercier tous et chacun en particulier pour vous être engagés à accomplir cette marche et transmettre mes prières. Je veux aussi rendre hommage et remercier vos familles qui vous soutiennent et manifestent de la compréhension pour le temps que vous prenez pour accomplir cette marche. Je sais que çà peut être dur, alors je vous prie de savoir que j’apprécie que vous vous souveniez et fassiez cela pour moi. Je vous demande seulement de garder l’esprit clair et de bonnes pensées dans la suite de ce voyage.
Dans les histoires de mon peuple, nous disons que dans des moments comme celui-ci, un aigle ou un faucon viendra voir ce qui vous êtes en train de faire. Nous, en tant que peuple Autochtone, savons qu’ils ne viennent pas seulement voir ce que l’on fait, mais qu’ils ont été envoyés pour recueillir les pensées et les prières des gens pour les rapporter au Créateur.
Il y eu un temps où, nous les humains, étions capables de communiquer directement avec tout ce qui vit, spécialement les animaux. Bien que nous ayons en partie perdu cette capacité, la vie animale continue à exercer sa responsabilité et donc, les animaux sont des messagers du Créateur. Je vous prie, pour moi, de faire que le message qu’ils porteront au Créateur reflète positivement ce que nous sommes les uns pour les autres en tant que nous sommes apparentés. J’enverrai mes bonnes pensées pour vous accompagner, cette fois.
Dans mon esprit, je marche avec vous. Prenez soin de vous, s’il vous plait. Doksha !

Ik wil de tijd nemen om iedereen te danken voor uw toewijding om deze mars te doen en om mij te gedenken in uw gebeden. Ik ben ook uw families erkentelijk en dankbaar voor hun steun en begrip voor de tijd en inspanning die u doet om deze wandeling te voltooien.
Ik weet hoe moeilijk de tocht kan zijn dus weet, dat ik het uitermate waardeer dat u aan mij denkt en dit voor mij doet.
Ik kan nog enkel vragen om tijdens deze reis uw geest helder en uw gedachten zuiver te houden.
In de verhalen van mijn volk zeggen we, dat in tijden zoals deze een arend of een havik langs zal komen om te kijken wat je aan het doen bent. Wij, als Native volk weten dat zij niet enkel op bezoek komen, maar dat ze gezonden werden om de gedachten en de gebeden van het volk te verzamelen en terug te brengen naar de schepper.
Eéns waren wij, als mensen in staat om rechtstreeks te communiceren met alle levende schepsels, met dieren in het bijzonder. Ondanks dat we tot op zekere hoogte die gave verloren hebben, gaan de dieren door met hun verantwoordelijkheid en daarom zijn ze de boodschappers van de schepper. Laat aub de boodschap die zij terug zullen brengen naar de schepper een positieve weerspiegeling zijn van wie wij zijn, als verwanten van mekaar.
Ik zend u mijn goede gedachten.
In mijn geest stap ik naast u.

MNN. Aug. 28, 2013. In the spring of 2005 the women of Akwesasne asked the men to fill council positions in the Turtle, Wolf and Bear clans. Bear and Wolf Clans each selected three men and the Turtle Clan selected one. During the next few years, they worked on establishing various businesses to help the people. 
In July 2011 to September 2012 the Three Feathers casino in Akwesasne was operated by the Longhouse people.

Issues will include but are not limited to fishing rights, the sterilization of Indigenous women, extreme poverty, theft of tribes' natural resources, environmental issues and their impact on Indian reservations, the horrific rate of suicides among Native children, and the wrongful conviction of Leonard Peltier (specifically the events that led up to the June 26, 1975, incident at the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota and the effects on survivors of this period).

"We have an oral tradition.  In this way, the stories about our 500 years of oppression have been passed down through the generations.  Now, we have the means to record that history and share it with the world.  The Leonard Peltier International Tribunal on the Abuse of Indigenous Human Rights will tell our stories with a focus on the last 40 years, " said Dorothy Ninham, founder and director of Wind Chases the Sun.  
Details regarding the Leonard Peltier International Tribunal on the Abuse of Indigenous Human Rights--an event scheduled for 2-4 October on the Oneida Nation Reservation in Oneida, Wisconsin--will be presented during a press conference to be held on September 4, 2013, in Minneapolis.
The purpose of the historic, public tribunal is to digitally document first-hand witness accounts of 40 years of malfeasance in Indian Country, and the continuing struggles of Indigenous Peoples.  Issues will include but are not limited to fishing rights, the sterilization of Indigenous women, extreme poverty, theft of tribes' natural resources, environmental issues and their impact on Indian reservations, the horrific rate of suicides among Native children, and the wrongful conviction of Leonard Peltier (specifically the events that led up to the June 26, 1975, incident at the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota and the effects on survivors of this period).  
All Indigenous Peoples are invited to attend.  Tribes are encouraged to send a delegation of tribal elders to participate.
