Mohawk Nation News 'Tobacco Road'

TOBACCO ROAD

mnnlogo1

Please post & distribute. Nia:wen.
MNN. AUG. 7, 2015. Quebec is once again trying to force their colonial jurisdiction over the kanion’ke:haka [Mohawk] tobacco industry. They are trying to eliminate the Mohawks as competition in the tobacco trade. The Mohawk Council of Kahnawake Inc. MCK pretend to resist while trying to regulate us on behalf of the CROWN. We are not to participate in the tobacco business, which the government want to totally control so they can charge $10 a pack. Tobacco is the most important medicine on ono’ware:geh.Quebec tries to ban cigaret sales Kahnawake.
smoke issue heating up.
The CROWN tells their incorporated INDIANS they have to replace the funding from Indian Affairs who stole our Indian Trust Funds. They want the council to regulate us and then collect taxes from our businesses and then from everything else, to totally assimilate us.
The MCK gives a false impression that they are protecting our rights to do business. They have been told to take control like Haudenosaunee Development Institute Inc. HDI is attempting at Six Nations. In 1997 the Onondaga council of chiefs tried and failed to work out the same deal with New York State to control businesses in all our communities. Our resistance lead to the military operation known as the “Indian Detail”, which is now proceeding in NYS court.
Canada is not a legal country as defined by the 1933 Montevideo Convention on the Rights and Duties of States. There’s no language called “Canadian”. They use England and France’s languages and continue to occupy our land. They masquerade Canada as a real country to the world. US and Canada know we will never submit to anyone.
We want 2 bags of cigarets with the blue rings.
We want 10 bags of cigarettes  cause we can’t afford the government’s $10 a pack. We have to feed our kids, you know!
Joe Norton and the other chiefs were created in 1924 by uber evil colonialist, Duncan Campbell Scott. These chiefs of the Mohawks at Kahnawake, should look at what they serve. Fascist Queenie. The CROWN to whom they swear allegiance is the poison which creates deceptions, lies and residential school [death camps]. The council is the tool that makes the evil possible among us. They copy the Vatican male hierarchical system so they can run our communities with one person telling everyone else what to do based on the European control models. Admiralty rules and military trained police protect them.
Kahnawake is supposed to become a replica of the slave state white society. MCK swears allegiance to the CROWN. They and their followers are carrying out the final solution to the “INDIAN problem”. A Mohawk businessman said: “Any INDIAN who falls for this crap can go f—k themselves!” paddling canoe
As the late Johnny Winter and his brother, Edgar, sing about growing up in the tobacco business: “I was born in a trunk. Momma died and daddy got drunk. Left me here to die alone, in the middle of Tobacco Road. Grew up in a rusty shack. All I owned was hanging on my back. Only you know how I loathe this place called Tobacco Road.”

Al Giordano responds to Project Censored's Attack on Censored News

Al Giordano, publisher of authentic journalism at Narco News, responds to Project Censored's hypocritical claim to own the words 'censored news' and its threat to file a lawsuit against Censored News
Dear Peter Phillips,

When in 2007 I rejected your Project Censored award I mentioned that I consider your organization a gigantic scam that abuses journalists and ordered you not to use my story in the book with which your organization sought to steal my work to make money for yourselves.

Thank you for, eight years later, having proved me absolutely correct about my judgement of you and your bottom-feeding, fraudulent crew.

Narco News and all our allies through the School of Authentic Journalism will be paying very close attention to whether you continue these threats against journalist Brenda Norrell, and in your attempts to silence and censor her continue. Guys who bandy about words like "cease and desist" are often the ones who need to take their own advice and cease and desist such infantile and greedy attempts to intimidate a journalist, and through her to the Native American movements for which she and Censored News provide unparalleled and vital coverage.

The suggestion that because your name is "Project Censored" that nobody else can use the word "censored," that you somehow have a trademark on the word itself, is as laughable as it is disgusting. The word is "part of your lexicon?" Please provide me a copy of your registered trademark on Censored News for a story I'm reporting about this latest attack on press freedom and in favor of censorship, complete with the date that shows you registered it before Ms. Norrell began using it in her publication. Short of that, you have no case, Sherlock, and you know it. This is just an effort to bully a journalist whose support from other journalists you apparently underestimated.

Persist in your efforts to censor its use and don't be surprised when you become, once again, the laughing stock of the entire international community of journalists, only at higher volume than ever before, because this latest stunt is so deliciously hypocritical it is beyond human decency.

Oh, and have a nice day, Mr. Phillips, you miserable, creepy slob.

Sincerely,

Al Giordano

Dear Brenda Norrell,

Project Censored uses the title "Censored" news and your use of this term would cause a normal person to believe that they are connecting with Project Censored. Please cease and desist immediately from using the title Censored News in your blog http://bsnorrell.blogspot.com/

Media Freedom Foundation Inc. is the legal owner of the name Project Censored for 39 years. The terms Daily Censored, Censored News, Censored logo  and Censored Notebook are all part of our lexicon.

Feel free to use terms like unreported news or hidden news for your blog, but do not use the word Censored.

We sincerely hope you do not make it necessary for us to take legal action on this.

Beste Peter Philips

Het woord is “part of your lexicon?”

Oprechte groeten,
Al Giordano

After our Award, Gatekeeper Project Censored threatens Lawsuit

Pioused Gatekeeper of Media Thinks it Owns the Words 'Censored News'

By Brenda Norrell
Censored News
Aug. 8, 2015
English with Dutch and French translations

After receiving a Project Censored Award in 2008, Project Censored is now threatening to sue me because it thinks it owns the common words 'Censored News.'

It shows the depth of degradation that even the so-called alternative media has succumbed to, attempting to strangle freedom and preside as a gatekeeper.

This is the danger of placing oneself in a position of righteous power for too long -- in the end you can become the very thing you set out to eradicate.

Shame on Peter Phillips and the Media Freedom Foundation. If you sue me, you will find that I have used my own meager funds to keep Censored News alive for the past nine years, after being blacklisted and censored.

All you will get is the suitcase I drag around and the disgrace of your action.

You should have done your homework before threatening to sue me, as you have used my copyrighted material from Censored News more than once without my permission.

To Brenda Norrell:
Keep going friend, we need your honesty, integrity and dedication!
Keep strong,
Alice Holemans

Cynthia McKinney's Dissertation: Hugo Chavez, White Supremacy, COINTELPRO and Wikileaks

By Brenda Norrell
Photo: Dr. Cynthia McKinney (second from right middle row) graduated with Dr. Brenda Manuelito (third from left front), Dine' from Tohatchi/Naschitti area of Navajo Nation and Dr. Carmella Rodriguez (second from right front) of Nambe, NM, creators of nDigidreams, an Indigenous-grounded digital storytelling company focused on survivance, liberation and healing.

YELLOW SPRINGS, Ohio -- Cynthia McKinney has broken dangerous ground since leaving Congress, challenging the US bogus wars, spider web intelligence and the junkyard media that makes it all possible.

Now, Dr. Cynthia McKinney has released her new dissertation, examining the life of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, with an analysis of white supremacy, COINTELPRO, Operation Condor, Wikileaks and more.

McKinney visited us in Tucson in 2007, urging impeachment of Bush and Cheney.

Responding to comments from fellow Congressmen, she said, "If I succeed then they know that there is life after political death, which really isn't death at all." Her words eight years ago were a forerunner to years of travel that took her through the Middle East.

She has not only succeeded, but she has done it well.

The title of Dr. McKinney’s dissertation is “’El No Murio, El Se Multiplico!’  Hugo Chavez:  The Leadership and the Legacy on Race.”

Former U.S. Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney
Completes PhD in Leadership and Change
at Antioch University

Graduating from Antioch University’s PhD program in Leadership and Change on August 1, 2015, Cynthia McKinney fulfilled a lifelong dream to complete her education with a terminal degree.  Cynthia is pictured here in Yellow Springs, Ohio, the school’s main campus, with the other graduating members of the PhD program.

Cynthia McKinney among the 2015 graduates of Antioch University’s PhD in Leadership and Change
In keeping with her interests in U.S. policy, Dr. McKinney wrote her dissertation on the leadership challenges faced by President Hugo Chavez as he asserted the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela’s right to sovereignty.  President Chavez’s mission as leader of Bolivarian Venezuela caused him to tackle the tough issues of U.S. domination, notions of White Supremacy, and the long-suppressed human rights of Venezuela’s Indigenous, African, and mixed populations that, together, constitute the majority of the people in the country.  The title of Dr. McKinney’s dissertation is “’El No Murio, El Se Multiplico!’  Hugo Chavez:  The Leadership and the Legacy on Race.”

Dr. Peter Dale Scott, University of California at Berkeley Professor Emeritus, served on Dr. McKinney’s dissertation committee and his influence can be seen as she sets the context of Hugo Chavez’s leadership by exploring the intricacies of Deep Politics in U.S. foreign policy in the past—COINTELPRO (The Counter Intelligence Program of the U.S. government, spearheaded by the Federal Bureau of Investigation), Operation Condor—and in the present.  After the U.S. Justice Department prosecuted and imprisoned journalist Barrett Brown for publishing WikiLeaks documents, McKinney was unsuccessful in her effort to use extremely revealing U.S. diplomatic cables and other key information in her dissertation that had also been published by WikiLeaks; this information was important because it exposed contemporaneous U.S. attitudes and behavior toward Hugo Chavez, in particular, and the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, in general.

Dr. Al Guskin, former Chancellor of Antioch University, credited with inspiring President Kennedy to found the Peace Corps of the U.S. Department of State, served as Cynthia’s dissertation committee chair.

Also serving on Cynthia’s dissertation committee were Dr. Philomena Essed, noted scholar on Critical Race Theory and Dr. Joseph Jordan of the University of North Carolina who has extensive experience in Latin American issues.  As a part of her research, Cynthia interviewed prominent scholars, activists, and individuals who knew or knew of Hugo Chavez’s leadership and legacy on race.

Dr. Cynthia McKinney Speaks
Antioch University’s PhD in Leadership and Change program is one that fosters scholarly inquiry and knowledge for personal and community liberation.  The philosophy of Antioch University can be summed up in the words of the first Antioch College President, educator and Congressman Horace Mann of Massachusetts:  “Be ashamed to die until you have won some victory for humanity.”

Antiochians also count the famous among their number:  Comedian Dave Chappelle’s father taught at Antioch College and before that, Coretta Scott studied education there in the days before integration was legal and before she married Martin Luther King, Jr.

Dr. McKinney has written two books and several articles, some listed below:

Dr. McKinney served twelve years in the U.S. House of Representatives.
