Censored by Facebook: Facebook helped governments spy on and arrest Flytilla activists

Alexander Higgins' online report about how Facebook helped spy on and arrest fly-in supporters to Palestine this week, could not be posted on Facebook today, as seen in this screen capture.

Facebook is not only helping governments to spy on, and arrest peace activists, but it is censoring a news article on what happened to the fly-in activists supporting Palestine. Activists were halted at airports in Europe this week, and others detained in Tel Aviv on Friday, as they attempted to travel to Palestine. Many remained in an Israeli prison on Sunday.

The 'Flytilla' supporters responded after Greece halted the Gaza Freedom Flotilla boats from departing, under pressure from Israel and the United States.

"... Facebook aided Israel in cracking down on the group of activists from the UK, France and Belgium who planned their event using the popular social networking site.
"According to the report, Facebook allowed government agents to track the activists activities and then create a black-list of people who participated in the planning of the protests.
"The group of black-listed people was then forwarded to airlines with instructions to prevent the activists from boarding air flights to Israel. Over 200 activists were prevented from flying after being added to the airlines terrorism watch list, according the the AP report."
Aljazeera also reported on how Facebook was used to halt and arrest the Flytilla activists.
"According to the Israeli daily newspaper Haaretz, police and intelligence units followed social networks used by the groups organising the protest," Aljazeera reported.

In his articles, Higgins also reveals an extensive spy operation, as uncovered in documents by hacktivists AntiSec, Anonymous and Lulzsec.

"While those details revealed mounds of shocking information, such as top secret military black ops being ran in partnership with the likes of Google, Facebook and ATandT to spy on online activities to gather data for the government to run mass propaganda operations and manipulate the news, the reality is the email dump contains over 70,000 emails and only as the emails are further dug through and analyzed will the full extent of the operations be revealed."

Camping is fun, but this is not what we planned to do this weekend (week, month?). It is not really a convenient time for any of us. But then, sometimes it really is a bit larger than ourselves and we have to do what is in our hearts or live with the pain of inaction the rest of our lives. This was not something our hearts would let us do! We may not succeed, but at least we reclaimed our own personl freedom and stood up for what we believe in. In our group we have quit jobs, cancelled vacations, saved money, organized our own support network (though it looks like further support is rolling in and we will be eating home baked goods up here for months), and made our own plans. We also call out to the world to help make even bigger plans :P
I know for certain we will fail without YOU! Yes YOU! The person reading this. Stop right now and think about what the mountain means to you. And then stop and realize it has a completely different, but just as significant meaning to a few million other people. It does not matter if that meaning is different. Our common bond is our love for the mountain. Let us put aside race, class, gender, and other social ills for a moment and join together in one common thing. Our love for the mountain and her need for protection RIGHT NOW.
You don't need a leader to tell you where to camp. You don't need us to tell you what to do. We all know in our hearts what is right! Let us know you are out there and prepared and then let's CONVERGE ON THE PEAKS!

NEW TOWN, North Dakota -- Community members of the Mandan, Hidatsa, and Arikara Nation are hosting the 16th Protecting Mother Earth Gathering at the Little Shell Antelope Society arbor in the Four Bears Park campground, south of the 4 Bears Casino, from July 28-31, 2011. The Four Bears Park is situated 4 miles west of New Town, North Dakota.

The Indigenous Environmental Network, a Native national environmental justice advocacy organization, is sponsoring the gathering where educators, indigenous peoples, local community members, youth and elders, and other interested individuals camp outdoors together for four days to collectively discourse and strategize on the resolution of local, national, and international environmental justice and indigenous rights issues through forums of plenary and concurrent workshop sessions.

Informational sessions, demonstration projects, and skills trainings related to protecting the Mother Earth will be offered daily by renowned Native traditional leaders, Native activists, advocates, educators, and practitioners of environmentally conscious living. An on-site kitchen staffed by volunteers will provide three free meals a day and an afternoon snack. Free daycare is also available for children, ages 4—11 (diaper-free). Donations during registration are very much appreciated but are not required. Tribal programs and environmental organizations with budgets are welcomed to donate. Evening sessions begin at 8pm and include A Cultural/Traditional games and activities night Thursday in the MHA Nations Earth Lodge Village, an Open Mic/Talent Show on Friday night and a Traditional Pow Wow on Saturday night. In addition, there will be a water ceremony on Saturday morning beginning at 5:45am led by Mother Earth Water Walker & Anishinawbe Grandmother Josephine Mandamin. Participants are asked to bring a small amount of water from their homelands to take part in the water ceremony and all women are asked to wear skirts if planning to attend.

Participants may sign up for the walk/run on Saturday morning beginning at 7am as well as area tours of the Three Affiliated Tribes Museum, Earth Lodge Village &; Straw Bale Building Demonstration home at the local Fort Berthold Community College. Two Continuing Education Units from FBCC will be available to registrants.

The theme for the July gathering is “Water, Energy, Climate, and the Importance of Health &; and Culture,” which is fitting for the indigenous community hosting PME. The MHA homelands are currently in the midst of a gigantic oil boom on the Fort Berthold Indian Reservation. Tribal members are experiencing social, economic, environmental, and cultural changes for which they were wholly unprepared. A greatly increased industry-related population has resulted in a town full of strangers competing for the same jobs and resources as the local people. Long convoys of huge industrial vehicles roar through the towns and countryside tearing up roads that weren’t built for behemoth trucks. Deteriorated highways--two of which are main roadways through the reservation--have been sitting closed, causing some tribal members long daily detours to work.

Oil removal methods, well blow-outs, toxic spills, illegal dumping and increased gas emissions have tribal members concerned about their land, air, water and health.

The Protecting Mother Earth Gathering will provide a forum for the local community and visitors to discuss their specific and mutual concerns, to gain an understanding of IEN’s work, and to seek viable methods for protecting the environment. Reno Gazette Journal promotes attackers in hate crime

The Reno Gazette Journal joined the copycat crew today, copying information from two articles in Censored News. If the journalists who are receiving paychecks were doing their jobs, they wouldn't have to sit in their easy chairs, and wait for the unpaid writers at Censored News to do it for them.

One article is about a Northern Paiute traditional gatherer being fined $800 by the Nevada Game and Fish.

The other article is disturbing, as the Reno Gazette Journal prints an extensive interview with the family of an accused attacker in a hate crime, without interviewing the victims.

The Reno Gazette's coverage reveals why racists continue to attack in the state of Nevada with impunity. In this case, the accused white attacker is the son of a retired police detective in Lyon County, Nevada.

Reno Sparks Indian Johnny Bonta was not only beaten and stabbed, but the attackers attempted to slit his throat, which is attempted murder. His son-in-law was also beaten in the attack by three men. Johnny Bonta, the victim, was jailed with a broken nose and cuts and bruises. He was denied medical treatment in jail. Police refused to take a statement from the family. Johnny Bonta was never charged and was only released from jail when tribal authorities intervened.

The Reno Gazette reporter takes the hit and run approach, saying the victims, the Bontas, could not be reached for comment by press time. This is unacceptable, reprehensible reporting in a hate crime.

Forbes did a far better story reporting the hate crime. However, if Forbes did not actually interview the family, then credit should be given to Censored News, or the subsequent copycat reporters who waited for Censored News to take all the risks, and then came out of hiding to collect their paychecks.

The hate crime took place on May 24. The Reno Gazette woke up from its snooze today on July 6, in time to do some damage control for the family of a retired white police officer.

Mainstream news reporters, don't think I'm doing your work for you so you can sit in your easy chairs and collect a paycheck off my efforts. That includes you, Indian Country Today, and your 'reporter' that I haven't seen out on a news story in the past 29 years.

And that includes you Reno Gazette Journal which copied two of my articles on Censored News on Wednesday. Then, you, the Journal promoted the attackers in a hate crime -- without interviewing the victims. Your journalism is a crime against humanity.

For all of you reporters who want to know what is in the Chinga La Migra downloads from Arizona police files, please feel free to stay up all night, every night, downloading torrents, zip drives and software updates so you can read, study and evaluate the massive data. Again, I'm not doing your work for free so that you can get a paycheck.
