Mohawk Nation News 'Shameless!'

mnnlogoSHAMELESS!

MNN. Nov. 13, 2013. “I’m sorry! So sorry!” is fake. We never saw a natural thing be sorry for itself!
PM Harper to Mayor Ford: "I told you, Rod, just say 'SORRY!' and then cry a bit". Toronto Mayor Rob Ford was caught on video smoking crack cocaine. He says he was drunk and asked for forgiveness. The apology overlooks the life his co-‘crack’ers live. They get the “bullet in the neck” while he goes on with his life. He turns his back on his victims.
Ford gets advice from Harper: “I told you, Rob, just say ‘SORRY!’ and then cry a bit!”
Canada has not had a human rights inquiry for the kidnapping of our children, killing half of them and trying to breed the rest of us into whiteness. Prime Minister Harper’s teary sideshow apology for killing our children in residential school death camps doesn’t cut it. Everyone in the world sees it’s a violation of every moral principle in the history of the world.

Alaska Natives demand halt to erosion of Clean Water Act

Alaska Environmental Alliance condemns federal agency conduct: Chemical dispersant pre-authorization plans are move to erode the power of Clean Water Act

Media Advisory November-Nov 13 -- 17, 2013

The Alaska Regional Response Team (ARRT), a federal inter-agency body tasked with formulating response plans to oil and hazardous substance discharges in Alaska, are holding public meetings in five hub Alaskan regions this week to present their revised oil spill response plans. The first meeting, scheduled in King Salmon, Alaska on Wednesday, November 13, will present information on plans that give pre-authorization for the spraying and injection of the same controversial chemical dispersants used on the 1989 Exxon Valdez and 2010 Gulf of Mexico British Petroleum (BP) Oil Spills, to be used in Alaskan waters.

The Alaska Inter-Tribal Council and the Change Oil Spill Response Global Alliance-Alaska Delegation, say Tribal Nations, fisherman and concerned citizens vehemently oppose the plan because it erodes the regulatory power of the Clean Water Act.  In a widely distributed Public Notification to Tribal Governments and Alaskan citizens, they explain that U.S. policies and laws mandating government to government consultation with Tribal Nations on such plans are being undermined and short circuited by the ARRT.

Indigenous Environmental Network: UN Climate Summit in Warsaw: Capitalism and Fossil Fuels

Statement on the UN Climate Conference in Warsaw

The United Nations climate meetings involve the big powers of the United States and other industrialized “developed” countries. Lurking in the background are the financial sectors and investors of capital often having meetings in 4-5 star hotels.
Everything I have seen from the industrialized countries (including G20 countries) is false solutions towards addressing climate change. They have been playing a game of chess with climate.
As articulated at the World People’s Conference on Climate Change and the Rights of Mother Earth in 2010 in Cochabamba, Bolivia, the root cause of climate change is capitalism. IEN had a delegation in Cochabamba actively involved in the outcome documents. The problem is countries will continue to drill, dig, and burn up every drop of oil, gas, and coal; no matter how expensive it is, till it runs out globally.

Inside Looking Out

By Leonard Peltier
Nov. 11, 2013
Greetings my relatives, friends and supporters,

I am communicating to you today to address some of the concerns about the changes that have taken place within the organization that leads the efforts to bring about my freedom. I am referencing the LPDOC as you well know, those of you who are familiar with the organization, there have been changes every two or three years.  Sometimes people feel this is too much and some feel it is too little and this is why I am having this comment sent out.

The White House Tribal Nations Conference that isn't at the White House

It's that time of year again

President Obama speaking at Tribal Nations Conference.
Dutch translation NAIS

It's that time of year again, time for the White House Tribal Nations Conference -- the one that isn't at the White House.
Once again, it will be held at the Interior Building.
When President Obama initially announced this annual conference, Obama said he was welcoming all Native American leaders to the White House. The venue was quickly changed to the Interior Building. There's not even a meet and greet where Obama welcomes each of the sovereign leaders. Instead, Obama usually speaks for about an hour at the Interior Building and leaves. Obama's new White House Council on Native American Affairs is composed of non-Natives.
Outside the conference on Wednesday, Native Americans will be demonstrating about real issues in Indian country. Lakotas battling the theft of their children by foster care programs are among those.
“Our Children Are Not Yours to Take” is the theme of a public education demonstration on Wed., November 13, from 7:00 am to 2:00 pm in Simon Bolivar Park outside the Department of the Interior which is hosting The White House Tribal Nations Conference. http://bsnorrell.blogspot.com/2013/11/lakota-action-outside-white-house.html
Among those who will not be heard in the Interior Building are Native Americans speaking out for peace, and against war. The US war on peacemakers includes the censoring of Native women’s voices by the corporate media in Indian country. What are the real issues from grassroots Native Americans that should be on the agenda? Disenrollments; theft of Native children through foster care systems; diseases from coal-fired power plants and strewn radioactive tailings on the Navajo Nation; fracking that is poisoning drinking water and causing cancer; the fight against new uranium mining; the fight against the tarsands Keystone XL pipeline; and oil and gas worker camps destroying Indian communities in North Dakota, are among those topping the list by Native Americans.
There is the theft of water rights in "water rights settlements" by non-Indian attorneys and Congressmen; racial profiling by police in bordertowns; unjust high incarceration rates in prisons; racism in federal courts and public schools, and federal spying and wiretapping in Indian country.
From the northern and southern borders there is the abuse by US Border Patrol agents, including those agents running drugs; violation of airspace and privacy by border drones and violations of ceremonies and cultural items by US Border Patrol agents. Nationwide, the US and corporations are destroying sacred places. For farmers, there are genetically-modified seeds damaging traditional crops. Across Indian country, there is a lack of water, heat, food and housing for elderly and a widespread lack of clean running water. Indian youths need recreational and social programs. The pressing issues include clemency for Peltier and the ongoing wild horse roundups for slaughter on Indian lands.
Perhaps President Obama would consider honoring the Defenders of the Earth this year, Native Americans who are protecting the land, air and water, rather than those who are destroying it. Why not honor these warriors defending the land, and women and children in their homelands, this year. These warriors are battling the exploitation by corporations and corrupt tribal and US politicians.
