MNN: Mohawks, Get Ready For Martial Law

MOHAWKS, GET READY FOR MARTIAL LAW

Mohawk Nation News

MNN. Feb. 17, 2010. The Indian Act is Canada’s policy. The goal is assimilation until there are no Indigenous left. When we object to this, we are called racist.

Who stands to gain from this forced removal of non-natives from Kahnawake by the band council, followed by the forced removal of us?

These evictions are initiated by the government. Why is the media blaming Indigenous for creating the Indian Act and calling us racist?

Certain colonial political parties are making major deals with the US. Quebec has sold our water rights to the US under NAFTA. To ship our water south they must go through Mohawk communities. We will oppose this.

Quebec-Canada-New York State-Washington DC are trying to cut off Mohawk initiatives, economic self-sufficiency and the viability of our communities. They are threatening people who do business with us.

The band council and Canadian government launched a smear and disinformation campaign to turn off the public. The band council is alienated from the Great Law. They are getting the public mad at us. Then the military can come in and occupy us. The public is being conditioned to think we had it coming!

In 1973, 2,600 non-natives were living here. They had no right to be here. The people wanted them to leave. The traditional Longhouse passed it in council and carried it out. The band council opposed it and brought in the Quebec Provincial Police to attack us. We defended ourselves.

These outsiders came in through the Indian Act. They did not come seeking shelter under the Great Law. Racism is being used to twist the issue.

In the 1980s the People passed the Mohawk Membership Law. Non-natives married to Mohawks could not live here. The band council did not stop them until now.

We refuse to be caught in the middle.

Starving Europeans arrived here. We took care of them, fed them, helped them raise their children and learn to survive.

Adolph Hitler studied the Canada-US-British genocide model that killed over 100 million of us in the Western Hemisphere. After WWII, South Africa patterned Apartheid on the Indian Act. Ottawa is looking at the Australia genocide strategy.

The newcomers occupy most of our homelands though all of Great Turtle Island is ours. We have a duty to maintain our territory for the future generations of our people.

We see these colonists every day. We deserve a refuge from them.

We don’t impose our ways, laws or beliefs on them. We keep our ways in our canoe. They keep throwing their garbage off their ship into our canoe and polluting our water.

The band council can’t use Kaianerehkowa/Great Law to back up their argument. They are putting one foot in the canoe and the other in the ship. They want benefits from both without respecting their responsibility to their people.

Now they’ve painted themselves into a corner. The Longhouse will not be sucked into this. It’s like the bully picking a fight, pulling back and getting his brother to take the beating. The band council always does this to the Longhouse.

Just because the Europeans washed up on our shores doesn’t mean all these squatters come under our shelter. We have to fulfill our responsibility to our children. The women must protect the blood lines. The men must support the women and children.

A Mohawk elder had the same dream several times. She saw men suddenly arriving in Kahnawake dressed in cream-colored naval-like apparel wearing Nazi German-like helmets. They arrived by water and surrounded us. We have not interpreted what this means.

MNN: Canada Campaigns Against Kahnawake Mohawks

CANADA CAMPAIGNS AGAINST KAHNAWAKE MOHAWKS
Mohawk Nation News
http://www.mohawknationnews.com

MNN. Feb. 15, 2010. The source of true equality and everyone having a voice comes from the Ongwehonwe. The elite tyrants are trying to kill it to get control of the world. They want the land and resources of Great Turtle Island. The liberal media in Canada says Mohawks don’t act right because we are not capitalists. Charges of racism are bogus. Our ancestors looked after the helpless refugees from Europe. We never mistreated them.

Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper wants to abolish native and communal title and to disperse our communities. He wants to use the Australian repressive model to set up unrestrained exploitation by mining companies and corporate developers.

On September 21, 2006, in the Bennell v. State of Western Australia ruling, the Noongar Aboriginies were affirmed as holding title to Western Australia. They proved they continue to exist and are still part of the land. It was upheld by courts set up by the Australian constitution supervised by the British Privy Council. This affirms us as the ethnic trustees of Onowaregeh/Great Turtle Island.

Shortly after, the Howard government declared a national emergency. 60 Aboriginie communities were put under martial law conditions.

Police and troops flooded the towns and camps to set up "welfare quarantining". Children are being placed in non-Aboriginie foster homes where they are cut off from their people, language and culture. Forced labor was imposed on the men. Many families were moved into colonial communities to live on rations.

Welfare payments were cut in half. Children under 16 were forced to be checked for alleged sexual abuse, which was never proven. This is strictly taboo in their culture. Such perversions are more common among the descendants of the British criminals that populated Australia.

Travel is being restricted, similar to the pass system of Canada. Political appointees took over housing and government enterprises.

The military takeover is meant to cause despair.

Indigenous are winning cases everywhere. We are demanding respect for our land and jurisdictional rights.

Australia is trying to grab land by overturning the Bennell decision through leases. The Aboriginies will be paid by welfare services.

Colonial tyrants are looking at the Australian prototype. A serpent is trying to wrap itself around us to crush us, similar to WWII when the Jews in Nazi Germany were targeted for annihilation. The Germans took over their businesses, properties and monies. Families were separated and killed in concentration camps.

Decisions are being made outside of Parliament where they can’t be questioned.

Is Canada erecting a scaffold for a police state starting with the Mohawks? The ruling thugs are going to trample over basic civil liberties and democratic rights. The message is, “Look what we are doing to the Indigenous. You’re next!”

'Dr. Jekyll' Obama Goes Nuclear

Obama targets black community with risk of radiation and death from new nuclear reactors

UPDATED Feb. 19, 2010: Obama spoke out against atomic energy before taking office; video added.

President Obama's new nuclear funding targets a black community in Georgia with the high risk of nuclear contamination and death. Waynesboro, Georgia, located in central Georgia near the South Carolina border, is 63 percent African American. As for young children, 70 percent of the elementary students are African Americans.

The primary employers in Waynesboro, Ga., are war profiteers and the intelligence community. The companies include Obama's friends at General Dynamics, the Bush family Shaw group and two intelligence corporations: SAIC and L-3 Communications.
Waynesboro is about twenty miles from Fort Gordon Army Base, which boasts, "Home of the Signal Corps, the largest communications-electronics facility in the free world."
Beyond Nuclear, denouncing the new funding for nuclear reactors in Georgia, said Obama is giving away taxpayer dollars to Southern Nuclear Operating Company for a project that will fail.

Beyond Nuclear denounced President Obama's granting of a conditional loan guarantee to Southern Nuclear Operating Company for the construction of new atomic reactors at its Vogtle Nuclear Power Plant site in Waynesboro, Georgia. Two new Westinghouse-Toshiba Advanced Passive (AP) 1000 reactors are proposed at Plant Vogtle.

President Obama's award comes despite an announcement by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) in October of a major safety flaw with the AP1000 design.

"An NRC media release dated Oct. 15, 2009, documents that the AP1000 shield building, as currently designed, is vulnerable to severe weather such as tornadoes and hurricanes, and natural disasters like earthquakes. This raises the concern that the design is also vulnerable to terrorist attacks such as intentionally crashing airliners. Thus, the shield building's intended protection of the reactor's primary radioactivity containment is questionable, as is its ability to provide radiation shielding during normal operations as well as to support a large emergency cooling water supply tank," Beyond Nuclear said.

"It is utterly irresponsible of President Obama to risk public safety and the environment by financing the incomplete and flawed AP1000 design at Vogtle and, worse still, at taxpayers' financial risk," said Kevin Kamps of Beyond Nuclear. "Even if ultimately fixed, the AP1000's major design flaw risks delays in construction and cost overruns, the same problems that delivered death blows to scores of atomic reactors three decades ago."

"The Congressional Budget Office has predicted that over half of new reactor owners will default on their loan repayments. The federal nuclear loan guarantees would finance up to 80 percent of the total project cost for a new reactor. Cost estimates for certain proposed new reactors in the U.S. have already surpassed $10 billion. The two new reactors at Vogtle are currently estimated by proponents to cost $14.5 billion, a figure expected by critics to significantly increase, Beyond Nuclear said.

"Making federal atomic reactor loan guarantees conditional upon a Nuclear Regulatory Commission license won't protect U.S. taxpayers," Kamps said. "The nuclear industry has a long history of defaulting on loans in the post-licensing period due to design flaws, construction mistakes, cost overruns, lengthy delays, and other problems that President Obama and Energy Secretary Chu cannot foresee, stumbling blocks which are not eliminated by NRC granting a construction and operating license," Kamps said.
The money and economic collapse of the US, however, comes second to human life. There was a time when Obama recognized the dangers of atomic energy.
Karl Grossman, in his article, "Obama Goes Nuclear," for Counterpunch, said, "Before taking office, including as a candidate for president, Obama not only was negative about atomic energy but—unusual for a politician—indicated a detailed knowledge of its threat to life."

“I start off with the premise that nuclear energy is not optimal and so I am not a nuclear energy proponent,” Obama said at a campaign stop in Newton, Iowa on December 30, 2007. “My general view is that until we can make certain that nuclear power plants are safe, that they have solved the storage problem—because I’m opposed to Yucca Mountain and just dumping…in one state, in Nevada particularly, since there’s potentially an earthquake line there—until we solve those problems and the whole nuclear industry can show that they can produce clean, safe energy without enormous subsidies from the U.S. government, I don’t think that’s the best option. I am much more interested in solar and wind and bio-diesel and strategies [for] alternative fuels.”
Grossman continues, "As he told the editorial board of the Keene Sentinel in New Hampshire on November 25, 2007: 'I don’t think there’s anything that we inevitably dislike about nuclear power. We just dislike the fact that it might blow up…and irradiate us…and kill us. That’s the problem.'"

Sonoran Desert: 61 human beings found dead in four months

Four Months into the Fiscal Year, the Count of Arizona Recovered Remains is 61

ARIZONA -- The number of human remains recovered on the Arizona-Sonora border since October 1, 2009 has reached 61, reports Coalición de Derechos Humanos. The data is comprised of medical examiner reports from Pima, Yuma, and Cochise counties, and is an attempt to reflect more accurately the human cost of failed U.S. border and immigration policies. This count includes forty (40) males, four (4) females, and seventeen (17) individuals of unknown gender. Approximately forty-seven (47) of the recovered individuals remain unknown, which is approximately 77% of the total recovered thus far this fiscal year.

This number is a dramatic increase from last year, when the total of recovered remains as of January 31, 2009 was forty-five (45). In addition, approximately twenty-three (23)-approximately 38%- of the remains were skeletal; last year, there were 13 skeletal remains (approximately 29%) at the same time last year. The continued increase in the recovery of skeletal remains indicates that more and more individuals are being funneled into more isolated and desolate terrain of the Arizona-Sonora border. This "Funnel Effect," which has been documented by the Binational Migration Institute, has shown that the practice of sealing of traditional crossing points ultimately pushes migration into the deadliest areas. The extent of this crisis is not known as the numbers of human remains recovered in neighboring states are not available.

"This year, we have seen a record number of recovered remains in the month of January in Pima County, and an alarming spike in the numbers in Cochise County this winter. We continue to see the tragic trend of the recovery of remains of unknown gender and an alarming rate of unidentified individuals" says Kat Rodriguez, Coordinator of Derechos Humanos.

'Unknown gender' indicates that not enough of a body was recovered to determine gender, and without DNA, which is costly, it is impossible to know even this basic information about the individual, making identification and return to their families even more difficult. The dramatic increase in these unknown gender cases are a troubling indicator of what might be to come as people are pushed out into more and more isolated areas, making rescue and detection less likely and the likelihood of death more certain. It is unknown how many remains are currently near the border but have not yet been discovered.

"Men, women and children continue to perish on our border, communities cry out for justice, and yet nothing has been done to address the policies that have pushed migrants into the deadly Arizona terrain" continues Rodriguez. "We truly are in the midst of a devastating human rights crisis."
