Censored News reader and supporter Lloyd Vivola encourages others to join him and support the toy drive. Lloyd sent this letter to his friends.

Lloyd writes, "Ofelia Rivas is an indigenous activist and spokesperson for the Tohono O'odham people, not least of all for those tribal members whose communities lie south of Mexico's border with the United States. Historically, this border has challenged the traditional ecology, cultural integrity, and economic well-being of the Tohono O'odham people. Now, the building of The Wall in the name of border security has further curtailed the tribe's freedom of movement and sovereignty with entry checkpoints, high-tech surveillance, and impaired access to goods and services on what is its ancestral homeland. It is an ongoing story that has been addressed by mainstream media like The Guardian and USA Today.

"At this time of year, I join many others from across the continent in supporting Ofelia's toy drive and the community's plans for a holiday celebration. The efforts will provide a joyful occasion to some 200 Tohono O'odham children and their families. Ofelia reminds us that many of the children will be returning home on holiday break from Mexican boarding schools. The smallest contribution makes a big difference in their holiday experience."
