WASHINGTON -- A new push for President Biden to grant clemency to Leonard Peltier and release him from prison is underway.

North Dakota Rep. Ruth Anna Buffalo asked President Biden on Thursday to release Peltier.

"I asked him to please free Leonard Peltier. He's a political prisoner and from North Dakota, a member of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa," Rep. Buffalo said.

Rep. Buffalo's appeal to the president comes after the Democratic National Committee passed a resolution on Saturday, Sept. 10.

"The Democratic National Committee on Saturday voted unanimously to pass a resolution urging President Joe Biden to release activist Leonard Peltier from prison ― a sign of the growing momentum to remedy what many consider a decadeslong stain on the nation’s criminal justice system," reports Jennifer Bendery in Huffington Post.

"DNC members passed the measure on a voice vote, calling on Biden to grant clemency to Peltier. The measure was part of a package of resolutions that sailed through during a DNC general session.

"Peltier, an Indigenous rights activist, has been in prison for 46 years following the 1975 murder of two FBI agents during a shoot-out on Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. This is despite no evidence he committed a crime, a trial riddled with misconduct and a parole process so problematic that United Nations legal experts recently called on Biden to release him immediately."

I pray Klncutn sanspaxpax yesukre xaxatm tunkasila wanikia wakan tonka and all the angels surround President Biden with energy of true justice and compassion and righteousness so that he does the right thing and grants executive clemency and compassionate release to Leonard Peltier opna. Leonard is now 78 years old and has been imprisoned for crimes he did not commit on June 26, 1975 almost a half a century ago.
