OUT THERE SOMEWHERE -- On the bus, everyone is speaking Spanish. The driver is speaking Spanish, and everyone else. They are all laughing and talking, and speaking this beautiful Spanish language. It is good to hear. On the rooftops, in the 110 degrees heat, the roofers are speaking Spanish, and those cooking food in the cafes, and caring for others' children, they are speaking Spanish too.
There is no way Trump can eliminate this beautiful language.
When I come across the border, there is a feeling of death, of dullness, when I re-enter the United States. That's what happens when the joy and life of Mexico are behind me, on the other side of this unnatural border.
At the taco joint, I grab some carne asada tacos, with some huge poblano chiles and pico de gallo, and gobble those down. And guess what, everyone is speaking Spanish.
And they are alive.

On the bus, out there somewhere. No doubt someone is shouting 'Vamos a bailar!' Let's dance.

Standing Rock stands with Mauna Kea

Standing Rock stands with Mauna Kea
by Jason Momoa
"ONE TRIBE. Human race. A huge mahalo to the members of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe that came to the mauna yesterday to share their dances, support, love & solidarity with us. It means a lot for the people of standing rock to come to the mauna because we have kanaka here who have stood and stayed on their frontlines as well. That’s what it’s all about, standing with eachother and being there for eachother in times of need."

Halt U.S. dollars to Israel and Apartheid contractor Elbit targeting Tohono O'odham and Palestinians

Photo: The Israeli defense contractor Elbit Systems, known for Apartheid in Palestine, constructed this spy tower in Sonoita, Arizona, on the border, last year with a contract with U.S. Homeland Security. Elbit is now preparing to construct spy towers on the Tohono O'odham Nation that will destroy ceremonial and burial areas.

Halt U.S. dollars to Israel and Apartheid contractor Elbit Systems, targeting Tohono O'odham and Palestinians

"In Gu-Vo District we remain strong to stand for our ancient cultural beliefs and have made our offerings to the ancient ones and ancient lands. We will continue to be the voice for the bees, four-legged sacred animals, winged ones, sacred plants, our sacred mountains and our sacred water. We will remain standing for our next 7 generations." -- Ofelia Rivas, Tohono O'odham

Israel denied entry to two United States Congresswomen, resulting in a cry across the United States for the U.S. to stop funding Israel and Israeli contractors in the United States, specifically those who are carrying out Apartheid construction on the Arizona border and in Palestine.

The first contract that should be halted is the U.S. Homeland Security contract with Elbit Systems to build spy towers on the Tohono O'odham Nation.

Over the objections of Gu-Vo District, the Tohono O'odham Nation passed a resolution in March to allow Elbit to construct the high-tech, integrated fixed towers, in remote O'odham traditional communities, which will destroy O'odham ceremonial and burial areas.

I, Chief Arvol Looking Horse, of the Lakota, Dakota, and Nakota Nations, ask you to understand an Indigenous perspective on what has happened in America, what we call “Turtle Island.” My words seek to unite the global community through a message from our sacred ceremonies to unite spiritually, each in our ways of beliefs in the Creator.

We have been warned from ancient prophecies of these times we live in today, but have also been given a vital message about a solution to turn these terrible times.

WASHINGTON —  The Standing Rock Sioux Tribe’s continuing legal battle against the Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL) advanced today with a motion for summary judgment filed in U.S. District Court in Washington, D.C.

The Tribe’s brief recounts the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ failure to meaningfully respond to the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe’s concerns throughout the remand process, in violation of federal environmental law. The Corps completely shut the Tribe out of the process, refusing to share technical information prepared by DAPL, and ignored extensive technical input from the Tribe showing that DAPL’s estimates of an oil spill risk were gravely underestimated.
