MINNEAPOLIS -- In a horrifying arrest, ICE punched Jose 'Beto' Roberto Ramirez, Red Lake Chippewa, and dragged him from his vehicle. As Ramirez was complying,  ICE hit him, as his aunt was screaming for help. 

Shawntia Sosa-Clara told her nephew to let the agents scan his face before an agent hit Ramirez. "Why did you hit him?" The video shows the ICE agent repeatedly punching Ramirez as Sosa-Clara screams.

RED LAKE, Minnesota -- The Red Lake Band of Chippewa in Minnesota passed a resolution in support of Palestine, stating the parallel between the current slaughter of Palestinians, and the treatment of Native Americans by the United States government.

The Red Lake Tribal Council urged sanctions against Israel and a halt to the United States funds and weapons to Israel for apartheid and genocide.

Pointing out that sanctions were necessary to end Apartheid in South Africa, the Red Lake Tribal Council urged boycotts and sanctions against Israel to halt the genocide.

U.S. Ilhan Rep Omar and the Squad urged President Biden to stop Enbridge Line 3 pipeline. The damage of the construction will be followed by dirty crude oil from Canada endangering the rivers, water supply and wild rice.

“They want to prioritize corporate profits over the lives of indigenous women and the future of our planet,” said U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar, reports CBS Minnesota.

LAKE WASHBURN, Minnesota -- Today, two Indigenous water protectors blockaded an Enbridge Line 3 worksite in tree sits directly anchored to the pipeline, while two others crawled into a pipeline segment. The sits follow 14 lockdowns at another Line 3 worksite last week, including one Indigenous matriarch.

Enbridge has begun drilling rivers across northern Minnesota, including the Willow River, where it appears construction hit an aquifer while drilling yesterday. Drilling mud was documented spreading into the river as a “spill kit” sat ashore.

Police repression has dramatically escalated in recent weeks, as Hubbard County sheriffs blockaded Namewag camp and continue to randomly issue citations since the initial riot line. One vehicle was cited while attempting a water delivery to the private property encampment.

Over 500 people have been arrested to date fighting Line 3 destruction of Anishinaabe treaty territory and expansion of the fossil fuel industry as climate crisis rages across the planet.

JD, White Earth Anishinaabe, said, “At this point it should be obvious why anyone would take action against the fossil fuel industry. The ocean is on fire, heat waves are killing people by the hundreds. We are in the middle of an extreme drought, our wild rice beds, lakes, and rivers are drying up. And while they dig up our Mother for Line 3, the bodies of our relatives are being dug up from the grounds of boarding schools. They are people who were taken from us as children, who never got to have children of their own, to live their lives. I am thinking of generations of relatives that are not here with us. My elders, aunties, uncles, cousins, and peers I will never know on this Earth. But my Grandma survived and that’s why I am still here, proud to be Anishinaabe. These colonial governments have done everything they can to kill our land, kill our culture, kill our people, but they will never kill our spirit. We will never go willingly to our own destruction. So today I sit in the path of this pipeline, tomorrow it could be you.”

From inside the pipe, Water Protector Magpie said, “As a descendant of settlers, it’s my job to stand up to white supremacy, and doing what I can to disrupt projects like Enbridge’s Line 3, which perpetuates climate chaos and brings destruction and violence to Anishinaabe territory is part of that. We must do everything we can. We are running out of time.”

After a mass action shutting down a Line 3 pump station, over 150 water protectors were arrested. Arrestees have since been transferred to Aitkin County, Kandiyohi County, Douglas County, Pine County, Todd County & Becker County. The counties are part of the 16-county Northern Lights Task Force, which has received significant funding from the Enbridge Corporation. To date, sheriffs have billed hundreds of thousands of dollars to the Enbridge-funded and state-overseen Public Safety Escrow Account.

Indigenous youths, marching to the White House on Thursday with a 200-foot black snake called out with clarity to the White House. "If the Biden Harris administration doesn't want this at their home, then they shouldn't bring it to our home," one of the Native youths said.

A news search shows that the media in France, Latin America, Germany, Iran, and Russia provided good coverage of the Native youth actions in DC to shut down pipelines -- while the U.S. mainstream media remains sleeping.

Native youths began the actions in Washington on Thursday by running to the White House and locking down to tripods outside the White House.

With a large crowd joining them, they delivered more than 400,000 petitions to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to shut down the Dakota Access and Enbridge Line 3 pipelines, and rallied outside.

Lakota and Dakota youths traveled from Standing Rock and Cheyenne River Nations in North Dakota and South Dakota, and Anishinaabe youths came from Minnesota, to lead the actions.

A news search shows the media in France, Latin America Germany, Iran, and Russia provided coverage of the actions on Thursday. It seems the mainstream U.S. media remains in hiding.

Jen Deerinwater at Truthout provides coverage of Waniya Locke, Dine', Lakota, Nakota, and Anishinaabe, who locked down to a tripod near the White House, at Black Lives Matter Plaza.

La Prensa Latina describes the threat of the Enbridge Line 3 Pipeline. The pipeline under construction would carry crude oil from Alberta, Canada, through Anishinaabe lands in Minnesota.

Meanwhile, in Washington, Native youths ran for the water.

"All pipelines break," Native youths said, as they stood in defense of the water.

"Water is Life, Mni Wiconi," said Native youths, marching with the black snake in the streets of DC.

They resounded the defense of Water Protectors at Standing Rock in North Dakota, defending the Missouri River, and the drinking water for the masses, from Dakota Access Pipeline.

At Cheyenne River in South Dakota, Lakotas continue to monitor the construction area of the Keystone XL pipeline, whose permit was canceled by President Biden. 

"You can't trespass on stolen land," said Jasilyn Charger, Cheyenne River Lakota, in RT's coverage. Charger, and Oscar High Elk, face charges for protecting the land and water in their homeland.

The global coverage of the action of the Native youth in DC, killing the black snake, includes coverage in Tehran, Iran.

MUNICH, Germany (October, 17 2017) - In the face of many dire challenges, Indigenous women leaders of the Standing Rock movement and their allies remain unyielding in their quest for justice regarding the violations of Indigenous rights, human rights and the rights of the Earth and climate perpetrated through the development of the Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL) and other fossil fuel projects across Indigenous territories in the U.S. and around the world.

For the past two weeks, an Indigenous Women's Divestment Delegation to Europe has traveled through Norway, Switzerland and Germany to engage with political leaders, representatives of financial and insurance institutions, civil society groups, and members of the media to share personal accounts and calls to action for immediate divestment from fossil fuel companies that endanger rights and neglect Indigenous People's right to Free, Prior, and Informed Consent (FPIC) as outlined in the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.

Delegation members included - LaDonna Brave Bull Allard (Lakota historian, member of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe and founder/landowner of Sacred Stone Camp); Jackie Fielder (Mnicoujou Lakota and Mandan-Hidatsa, Campaign Coordinator of Lakota People's Law Project and organizer with Mazaska Talks); Michelle Cook (Diné/Navajo, human rights lawyer and a founding member of the of the Water Protector Legal Collective at Standing Rock); and Tara Houska (Anishinaabe, tribal attorney, National Campaigns Director of Honor the Earth, former advisor on Native American affairs to Bernie Sanders); along with Osprey Orielle Lake (WECAN Executive Director and delegation organizer).

Delegation meetings centered in Norway, Switzerland and Germany due to these nations' role as home bases for several of the world's largest financial and insurance institutions supporting dangerous extraction developments. These European nations and their institutions also however, have enshrined some of the world highest human rights and Indigenous rights standards, creating an opening for Delegates to call for firm action by banks and investors of these nations to uphold their high standards and become an international model for justice and accountability.  

During meetings with Norwegian Parliamentarians, DNB, the Council on Ethics to the Norwegian Oil Fund, UBS, Credit Suisse, Zurich Insurance, Swiss Re, BayernLB, Allianz, Deutsche Bank and others, Delegates brought to the forefront demands for Indigenous and human rights as outlined in international law, and calls for divestment through corporate level and/or project level finance to stop unwanted fossil fuel development in their territories.

In addition to continued advocacy regarding the Dakota Access Pipeline - the women highlighted the growing pipeline resistance by Indigenous peoples and allies to Keystone XL (TransCanada), Trans Mountain (Kinder Morgan) and Line 3 (Enbridge) pipeline projects - calling for international solidarity and action to prevent continued harmful developments.  

The bold actions and advocacy of the Delegation work comes as part of a growing global movement which is pursuing diverse fossil fuel divestment efforts as a critical and effective strategy to protect the global climate, the health of communities, and rights of Indigenous communities and others experiencing the impacts of oil extraction and climate change on a daily basis. Upcoming global actions include the #DivestTheGlobe campaign taking place worldwide while Equator Banks hold their central meeting in São Paolo, Brazil on October 24 (mazaskatalks.org).
