CANNON Ball, North Dakota -- On August 24, 2016, a federal judge in Washington, DC will issue his ruling on the injunction filed by the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe regarding the Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL). Many water protectors and land defenders have gathered here to show love and respect for our first medicine, the sacred water.
This morning five people were arrested at the site where DAPL is building a road they will use to transport their equipment to the work site. Guy Dull Knife, Oglala Lakota elder of the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation was one of the people arrested when he blocked the gate to the DAPL worksite.  Many more people have given themselves to be arrested as the days move toward August 24th. We have set up our Red Warrior Camp and are holding Non-Violent Direct Action trainings in camp and at the action site. We are entrenched and will protect the Mni Sosi River (Missouri) that we all belong to.  Red Nations from all along the river are here. Many citizens of America are here to protect sacred water. This is our Treaty Territory, our Ancestral Homelands.
Our ancestors trusted us to continue to protect our first medicine. We do this in a good way, out of love. We do not bring hate here. We are a spiritual people and we will defend our relative, sacred water. Our Pte San Win (White Buffalo Calf Woman) brought us the sacred pipe, and She also handed us the bow and arrow. We follow Her teachings in this way.
Owe Aku has trained thousands of people through Moccasins on the Ground NVDA training camp held for four years when we were challenging TransCanada, Inc and the KXL Tarsands Pipeline.  Communities and families are ready, they are here. This pipeline has the potential to contaminate water forever. This issue is a Human Rights Issue. It affects all of us. To support our NVDA work, please visit our website at
