U.S. Citizens Released from Israeli Prison Today Describe Brutal Abuse

U.S. citizens released from the brutal Israeli prison and bussed to Jordan for departure.

"I was in a cage with 57 other women, and someone really, really needed a medic -- we were there for hours, and we said, 'medic, medic, medic,' and a guard came and said, 'If you keep asking for a medic we are going to gas you."

Carsie Blanton, released from an Israeli prison, arrived in New York on Wednesday, Oct. 8.

"I'm a Jewish American, and in Israeli detention, I was really treated like scum, in the way you read about in the holocaust."

"We have to try and understand it, to end the occupation and the genocide."
The way they were dehumanized, she said she can not imagine what it is like to be a Palestinian in detention.

Carsie was among 24 U.S. citizens imprisoned for nearly a week in Israel's torture prison, Ktzi'ot, in the Negev desert. They were illegally kidnapped on international waters aboard the Sumud Global Flotilla while bringing humanitarian aid to Gaza.

U.S. citizens describe being beaten and abused in prison, upon arrival in Jordan today.

By Brenda Norrell, Oct. 7, 2025

U.S. citizens on the Global Sumud Flotilla described being beaten and abused in prison, upon arrival in Jordan today. Jordan arranged the bus transport that took them to the airport in Jordan after five days of abuse in Israel's torture prison. U.S. citizens said they were abandoned and left to rot by their government.

Speaking now from the airport in Jordan, Tommy Marcus said the flotilla was violently and illegally raided by Israeli Naval forces, while carrying aid to the starving people of Gaza. Their boats and belongings were all stolen.

"We were zip-tied, brutalized and blindfolded on route to an Israeli internment camp in the Negev desert."

Spying on Activists -- Dine' Klee Benally, Vicam Yaqui, and Zapatistas were Targeted by Tucson, Flagstaff and Phoenix police, Tohono O'odham government, and Mexican military

Democracy Now reports on Pegasus spyware in cell phones. It is a reminder of how our friend Klee Benally, Dine', was spied on by the Tohono O'odham Nation government as he protested the US Border Patrol, and the Salt River Project, and its role in poisoning Dine' with its coal-fired power plant.

The Tohono O'odham Nation government was the first tribal government to become part of a secretive inter-agency tribal/state/federal law enforcement Fusion Center that shared data.

Partnering with the Israeli Weapons Maker: University of Arizona and Navajo Nation

Photo: A rally was held on Thursday in support of Palestine at the University of Arizona after an earlier rally was canceled when the university president spoke out against it. Defense for Children said today that 1,873 Palestinian children have been killed in Israeli airstrikes and shelling in the Gaza Strip since October 7. More than 4,600 children are injured as hospitals run out of fuel, electricity, and medical supplies.

TUCSON, Arizona -- A Pro-Palestinian rally was canceled after the University of Arizona's president spoke out against it. The university in Tucson brags about its partnership with local Raytheon Missiles, now named RTX Corp., a provider of weapons to Israel. The university not only partners with the weapons maker, but it has a manufacturing plant on the Navajo Nation, where commercial crops are grown.

Raytheon's missile plant on the Navajo Nation was so censored by Indian Country Today, when I was a staff reporter there, that the editors told me not to even research it.

It all happened this way.

A helicopter, 15 trucks and 30 armed agents descended on the medical aid station to apprehend 4 people receiving medical care in deadly summer heat
Thursday, June 15th, 6:00 pm, Arivaca, Arizona: In temperatures surging over 100℉, US Border Patrol raided the medical aid camp of humanitarian organization No More Deaths, and detained four individuals receiving medical care. Obstruction of humanitarian aid is an egregious abuse by the law enforcement agency, a clear violation of international humanitarian law and a violation of the organization’s written agreement with the Tucson Sector Border Patrol.
Agents from the Border Patrol began surveilling the No More Deaths’ camp on Tuesday, June 13th at around 4:30 PM. Agents in vehicles, on foot and ATV’s surrounded the aid facility and set up a temporary checkpoint at the property-line to search and interrogate those leaving about their citizenship status. The heavy presence of law enforcement has deterred people from accessing critical humanitarian assistance in this period of hot and deadly weather. These events also follow a pattern of increasing surveillance of humanitarian aid over the past few months under the Trump administration.
This afternoon, in an unprecedented show of force, approximately 30 armed agents raided the camp with at least 15 trucks, 2 quads and a helicopter to apprehend four patients receiving medical care.
For the past 13 years, No More Deaths has provided food, water, and medical care for people crossing the Sonoran desert on foot. The ongoing humanitarian crisis caused by border enforcement policy has claimed the lives of over 7000 people since 1998. Human remains are found on average once every three days in the desert of Southern Arizona.
Kate Morgan, Abuse Documentation & Advocacy Coordinator for the organization said, “No More Deaths has documented the deaths and disappearances of hundreds of migrants in the Arivaca corridor of the border. Today’s raid on the medical aid station is unacceptable and a break in our good faith agreements with Border Patrol to respect the critical work of No More Deaths”.
John Fife, one of the founders of No More Deaths, commented that, “Since 2013 the Tucson sector of the Border Patrol has had a written agreement with No More Deaths (NMD) that they will respect the NMD camp as a medical facility under the international Red Cross standards, which prohibit government interference with humanitarian aid centers. That agreement now has been violated by the Border Patrol under the most suspicious circumstances. The Border Patrol acknowledged that they tracked a group for 18 miles, but only after the migrants sought medical treatment did the Border Patrol seek to arrest them. The choice to interdict these people only after they entered the No More Deaths’ camp is direct evidence that this was a direct attack on humanitarian aid. At the same time, the weather forecast is for record setting deadly temperatures”.
People crossing the deadly and remote regions of the US Mexico border often avoid seeking urgent medical care for fear of deportation and incarceration. For this reason, a humanitarian focused aid station in the desert is an essential tool for preserving life. The targeting of this critical medical aid is a shameful reflection of the current administration’s disregard for the lives of migrants and refugees, making an already dangerous journey even more deadly.
In spite of this, No More Deaths remains committed to our mission to end death and suffering in the desert and will continue to provide humanitarian aid, as we have for the past 13 years.

America's War on the Voiceless
No More Deaths Camp was attacked by Border Patrol agents who arrested four migrants receiving emergency medical aid at Arivaca, south of Tucson, late Thursday. This photo shows America's current violent attacks being carried by heavily armed police and agents targeting dying migrants crossing the desert on foot; the voiceless; the desperate and Indigenous Peoples, as was done by militarized police at Standing Rock. The weather forecast in southern Arizona is for deadly heat, with temperatures to reach  120 degrees. Attacking emergency medical aid is an humanitarian crime.

TUCSON Dia de los Muertos Pilgrimage honors lives lost on Arizona-Sonora border

15th Annual Día de los Muertos Pilgrimage Honors the Thousands of Lives Lost on the Arizona-Sonora Border

Continuing to demand an end to this human rights crisis, that justice be sought for each of the thousands of lives that have been taken and an end to policies of 'deterrence' that have proven to continue to cost human lives.
By Derechos Humanos
Censored News
October 30th, 2015

TUCSON, Arizona -- For the 15th year in a row, Derechos Humanos, along with several other community groups, will walk from the St. John's Church to the San Xavier Mission to draw attention to the human rights crisis occurring here in the southwest. Again this year we will honor the estimated 10,000 lives that have been taken too soon as a result of inhumane policies implemented by the U.S. government since the 1990s.

On Saturday, October 31st, 2015, participants will gather at the St. John's Church (602 W. Ajo Way) at 8:00 in the morning. Following a short sending ceremony by the Calpolli Teoxicalli, we will begin our 8-mile walk, carrying the 137 crosses that represent each set of recovered remains found in the Arizona-Sonora border and documented by the Pima County Medical Examiner's Office from October 1st, 2014 to September 30th, 2015. We will arrive at the San Xavier Mission between 1:00 and 1:30 p.m. where we will be greeted by the W:ak Traditional Singers. Stephen Barnufsky, OFM will end the event with a blessing of all participants and crosses as we read the names of the dead and place their crosses with those of the last fourteen years.

100 of this year's crosses carry the word "Desconocid@" or "Unknown," representing each set of remains whose identity is unknown. For us, it also represents the number of families still looking for their loved ones and the effectiveness of a system that 'deters' people from crossing by disappearing them. The rest of the crosses carry a name and an age, if known. All of them are members of communities and families who have been killed unnecessarily by U.S. policies.
Since border policies were implemented in the 1990's, it is estimated that the remains of approximately 10,000 men, women and children have been recovered along the U.S.-Mexico border. This does not include the countless souls whose bodies have yet to be found, those who will never be found and those who have died while crossing through Mexico as a result of the U.S. funded Southern Border Program that began in the summer of 2014. Just like the Border Patrol Strategic plan of 1994, the Southern Border Program knowingly funnels people into dangerous terrain, intended to be used as a 'deterrent' to keep people from migrating to the U.S.
La Coalición de Derechos Humanos invites community members to join us in our Pilgrimage to honor each life lost and to protest the inhumane policies that our government continues to create, fund, and expand.  We continue to demand an end to this human rights crisis, that justice be sought for each of the thousands of lives that have been taken and an end to policies of 'deterrence' that have proven to continue to cost human lives.
Join Coalición de Derechos Humanos
What: Day of the Dead Pilgrimage - A 7.8 mile walk from ST. John's Church, on 12th Ave & Ajo, to the San Xavier Mission commemorating the migrant lives lost in the desert each year!

Apache Stronghold Rally Tucson June 30, 2015

Apache Stronghold Rally in Tucson June 30
Caravan to Washington, D.C. Begins July 5 with Mount Graham Sacred Run

By Indigenous Alliance Without Borders
Censored News

Tucson, AZ – Tuesday, June 30, 2015, at 7 pm, Apache Stronghold will hold a rally to support the efforts to protect Oak Flat, a sacred Apache site located on the Tonto National Forest which is threatened by a proposed copper mine. Apache Stronghold will begin a caravan to Washington D.C. the following week and will rally in the Nation’s capitol to ask the U.S. government and the public to support the Save Oak Flat Act, a bill introduced by Congressman Raul Grijalva in mid-June.
The rally is sponsored by Indigenous Alliance Without Borders and Tucson Supports Oak Flat to promote Apache Stronghold in their effort to restore this land to the people. Donations for the caravan will be accepted and information about how to get involved in this historic movement will be available.
Oak Flat, or Chi’chil Bildagoteel, has been protected from mining since 1955, when President Eisenhower recognized the importance of this site and used an Executive Order to permanently protect the cultural and natural resources for future generations. Senator John McCain, Senator Jeff Flake, Congresswoman Ann Kirkpatrick, and Congressman Paul Gosar used late-night political maneuvering to trade away this sacred land to a foreign mining company by attaching the land swap to a must-pass defense spending bill in December of last year.
“Once again the U.S. government has turned its back on promises made to Indian people. We are left with no choice but to take our fight to this nation’s capital” said Jose Matus, Director of Indigenous Alliance Without Borders, adding “We need to show our elected officials that the people of Arizona want sacred tribal sites protected and to let Congress know they cannot get away with giving away public lands to corporations. If Oak Flat can be traded away to a mining giant, no sacred site is safe.”
Support for Apache Stronghold and Oak Flat has been growing steadily since February 2015, when members of the San Carlos Apache tribe began an encampment at Oak Flat to protect the site. Mainstream media has taken note with articles appearing in the New York Times, and on MSNBC. Thousands of people have signed petitions to repeal the land exchange or have the site nominated as a National Monument. Recently, the National Trust for Historic Preservation named Oak Flat as one of America’s 11 most endangered historic places.
The rally will include music and members of the San Carlos Apache Tribe will be available for interviews.

When: Tuesday, June 30, 7:00pm-9:00pm
Where: Global Justice Center, 225 E. 26th Street
Why: Rally support for Apache Stronghold caravan to Washington, D.C. and generate support for the Save Oak Flat Act.
